Prefer my e-cig

Jump to: Newest in thread

By *urvywelsh OP   Couple  over a year ago

Everywhere and nowhere baby

Well, I've got myself an e-cig, and even though I only got it yesterday, I haven't smoked so many real fags as I normally do!! In fact I prefer the e-cig, instead of smoking a whole fag I can just have a couple of puffs on my new toy and it satisfies a craving.

Well impressed. Fingers crossed I have found something that will actually help me give up for good.

"Do they do Ejoints?"

What you're looking for is a "Vapouriser".

I tried an E-cig for a couple of weeks but didn't really like the taste and found that I needed to smoke twice as much. In the end I went to the docs and got prescribed "Champix", fantastic stuff, was completely off smokes in about 2 weeks, cigarettes tasted just awful and the craving completely went. A couple of downsides is that you feel a bit queasy taking them for the first week or so, but you get used to it, put on a bit of weight too, but that just spurred me on to exercising and leading a more healthier life. I'd recommend trying it if other routes fail.

I think I'll have to try 'champix' I have smoked e cigs but I always went back to real cigs. its good to see you did well with it even with a few downsides.

Champix turned me from someone who is normally quite calm ...to a raving lunatic who thought she lived on the ceiling.....

A horrid experience

Thank you all for your replies. I have only had 2 real cigs today where I would normally have had 10 so progress already.

Tried Champix, but I had weird dreams and felt sick. Never had the second course.

I have been smoking an e-cig for almost 2 years. I loved smoking but didn't want to die. So I switched.

I have never been happier or healthier. If your using it to give up compleatly then it can be difficult, but if its an alternative there is nothing better.

I smoke about the equivelent of about 10 rags a day and it costs me 10 quid a month. No brainer really.

Oh yeah I forgot about the vivid dreams. Didn't bother me though as a really enjoy my dreams, even the nightmares (oxymoron there?), I try lucid dreaming too but can never pull it off....bummer. As for turning you mad, wow, my experience was quite the opposite, it chilled me right out haha. Strange how our biochemistry works eh? Feeling sick unfortunatly is a common side effect, but for me that was all over with by the time I finished my 2nd corse. I'd tried patches, e-cigs, gum and zaiban, so champix was a last resort for me so I had no choice but to persevere. Needs must when the devil rides, so they say. I think you just gotta keep trying till you find what works, good luck with it

E-cig for me too. If anyone is thinking if trying these I would recommend not buying those silly things from supermarkets. Shop about and look online. So many flavours to choose from. And different strengths to suit your needs. Much healthier than fags

Ziaban was a precursor to Champix, both were designed originally as anti-depressants but it was discovered that they had the added bonus of cancelling out the receptors that give us nicotine cravings. Ziaban was released about 5-6 years ago and I'm not sure they offer it now, don't matter though cos Champix works far better. And yes, for me I did feel more positive minded on them too so it kinda still has the anti-depressant effects. I wasn't depressed but it just made me feel......better lol if you do decide to or down that route you will need to persevere through the sickly feeling (it only lasts for about 10-15 mins, and you will stop feeling it after a couple of courses) I took mine about 30 mins before dinner. If you want to stop the vivid dreams happening (I didn't) you can have one when you wake up with brekkie, then one with dinner

Yes they do cancel out the nicotine receptors - however be very careful as they also cancel out the same receptors that give us "need" signals. Those are the same receptors that tell us when we need vital things like food, drink, oxygen, and to live a long life.

They also call champix the suicide drug.

Do a search before concidering using it.

I quit on champix 6 years ago. Even though I was clinically depressed and had high blood pressure, the doctor decided I was ok to take them. The risk of smoking to my health being the more worrying

Yes I got sick and spaced out and had the lucid dreams but that was only for about 10 days. A couple of times when driving I had to pull over as I was feeling out of it. Luckily hubby was home so he done all the driving for a while

Unfortunately I just started back smoking

I'm looking at buying an e cig. I bought one of those disposable ones that are sold everywhere - and it's horrible

Are the vapor ones any better? The disposable one just doesn't deliver the feeling of smoking. Rather like sucking through a straw

Everywhere and nowhere baby

Mine is a disposable one, equivalent to 40 cigs. But I will buy a rechargeable one I think as I am getting on ok with it. It gives me something to do with my hands as well, the comfort of holding a ciggie. I'm going to do my best anyway as its all I can do. X

I bought one 3 months ago. Used it for 2 weeks before I just didn't want to smoke at all. I haven't touched a cig or the e cig in about 10 weeks (although I have an added incenitve not to smoke at the moment).

Mine was E-Lites.

Nicotine isn't that bad for you?

Nicotine is known to mildly stimulate the central nervous system, whereas it strongly stimulates the cardiovascular system. It causes blood vessels to constrict thus increasing both blood pressure and heart rate. Nicotine is very poisonous, and its the active ingredient in tobacco.

Nicotine causes the constriction of coronary arteries, heartburn and high blood pressure. The effects may be mild for people who are not addicted to the substance but they become pronounced with higher intakes of the substance.

Nicotine can do many thing to a human body. Nicotine can affect blood pressure, heart rate, nerves, body temperature, can cause a release of adrenaline, blocks insulin, and cuts off a bit of air supply going to and from the lungs. Nicotine over time can also cause a great range of cancers.

I used to really enjoy smoking but knew i had to give up, i went cold turkey as didn't want to replace one addiction with another just as harmful - it's tough but well worth it! Good luck to anyone giving up. Z
