Mine just has to be "shawshank redemption".

well made well acted and a believable story.

2nd just has to be " the green mile".

I agree with Shawshank, but i'm also a sucker for Ealing comedies, School for Scoundrels, Lavender Hill Mob, The Card. All great stories. The list is endless to be honest.

"I've got loads"

Name them then

I couldn't name just one but favourite all time films in no particular order are:

Manon de Source/Jean de Floret

Life is beautiful

Once upon a time in America

Dr Zhivago

.....and a few mote. Out of those mentioned I'd highly recommend Life is beautiful which is a piece of genius. Roberto Begnini won Best Actor Oscar as an Italian in an Italian speaking film that year (in the 90's) which is an achievement in itself but the plot in the second half is wonderful yet sad.

I can't claim the original Emmanuelle has any great artistic or cinematographic merit but it introduced a lot of people to the understanding that sex on screen was always sleazy.

Band of brothers - breathtaking

Can't believe These haven't been mentioned though :

The Goonies

Leon

The Great Escape

The Italian Job (Michael Caine)

Stand by Me

Forrest Gump

E.T.

If I had to plump for one it would be The Goonies

i bet most have not even heard of kung fu hustle let alone watched it lol,

1 of the funniest films me and the kids have watched numerous times even though its a mandarin film with English dubbing, its so funny but the action and fight scenes are as good or even better than films like matrix and pirates of the Caribbean, if you can force yourself to watch a dubbed film you will reaaly be taken away, my misses would not watch the first time but has watched it a couple of times since and thoroughly enjoyed lol
