Is this an honest attempt of hiding someones identity or is it just another way to exclude those not in the know..
Either way winds me the fuck up and if your gonna say that stupid pissing saying just say their bloody name as its often easy to read between the lines.. rant over! Happy Thursday |

Why does it get to you!!
Why not just ignore it instead of letting it get to you? |

It can be either but I really hate it when it's designed to exclude and I also dislike "you know who you are"...if they know who they are why are you bothering to say anything? |

Things do get to people, different things annoy different people and it can be difficult to ignore. |

Because if i knew the content of a post or a message without reading it then i would ignore it.. if u can figure a way of doing that let me know |

Are you referring specifically to the forums? or just the general saying when people are trying to be knowingly coy? |

But not everyone wants to air everything in public.
It could be that fellow forumites are in the early stages of "getting to know one another", and are playing their cards close.
If it annoys you ignore and move on... |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
It can be both a way of genuinely hiding someone's identity and a way of excluding others not in the know.
It doesn't particularly annoy me.
Liberal use of literally annoys me more.
Take a breath and stop reading threads that wind you up.

If, however, you know people with a propensity to use such phrases it is possible to avoid reading threads started by them or posts on threads to which they contribute. That works well for me.

People have a right to discretion people have aright to privacy the fact some feels they should be in the know isn't valid and belongs in the playground not on an adult forum. |

I actually think its quite a nice way of being discreet. It keeps names out and to the certain someone it makes them know the author is thinking of them. Not everyone reading the piece of writing will know what the author is talking about.... Being non forum specific of course |

"Some people obviously like discretion
On an open forum ? "
Yes, I know I've been less than discrete in the past but I do think some people could learn a touch of discretion. And yes pot, kettle, black and all that. |
