Twerking has been around since the 90s. It was almost exclusively a black culture (rap, hip hop, dancehall, bashment, soca) phenomenom, until it resurged and became more mainstream. Cue Miley Cyrus and her "reinvention" latching on to it "poorly" and suddenly everyone and their cat is talking about, or trying to twerk. |
