Ladies and Gents

Question for all you regular forumites, when ever I come on here and read some of the posts, I always get the feeling that some of you are probably friends outside of fab and keep in touch using other means as well!

Am I right, how many of you keep in touch with others here and have become firm friends?? X

A few blessed people are privileged to be friends outside of fab.

Fab is, as fab does .... I'm not here to make friends, but some have crossed over

I don't think it means that all of us in the forums are bosom buddies, we just take the banter and the stick

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Prior to the Manchester Cupids social/party in July I had met three forum users. I had another two I would text as well. Some others were just "friends" in the sense of sending private messages on Fab.

Since Manchester I have met a lot more but still mainly communicate on Fab.

I'm looking forward to Kent (see the thread on the meets board) to meet even more people.

There's many a forumite I've met, socially and for fun - and consider several to be good friends. Obviously one in particular - but there's a fair few I'd gladly meet up with for banter and drinks.

As Lickety said - the socials are a great chance to put faces to personalities and so far 95% have been exactly as they come across online.

Great!

I have friends within the swinging world and we regularly get invited to their parties etc. A few I know from attending clubs and I'll chat every time I see them.

I don't socialise with fab users outside the swinging scene though. I don't text anyone and I don't add people on facebook or give out my personal phone no.

I keep my swinging life and my real life strictly separate

The number of people I have met is still a smaller number than those I interact with on the forum.

If by clique you mean that some people get on with each other and have similar _iews then that is true. If you mean that it's an exclusive club then I don't believe that to be true.

If you mean that people don't respond to your threads the way that you want then that's a matter for you. You get responses. Others post and wonder why they don't get a response. Does that make those that respond to your threads (for good or ill) a clique?

Need to know basis

When I joined 8 month ago, I was under the impression that everyone on here (in the forums) knew each other very well. It was quite daunting and I felt very much an Outsider for a long time...I even got shot down in flames and verbally abused by some as well as been sent to the naughty step...all in the first 3 months! I persisted and survived!

Then I realised that those I tought knew each other only had ever had Virtual contacts but because they had been members for 'over a year' they had formed a 'forum bond'. And this happens in real life when like minded people find themselves in the same place at the same time.

I hope you will decide to attend some of the 'socials' being organised (as did I back in July)...then you will become part of the non exitent 'clique'...only because you will have been able to put a face to the username!

I keep in touch with a number of people I met at the Cupids socials in July.

Friends online with quite a few, some personal social meets with people who intrigue me because they have good personalities and something about them.

"explains the reasons for the cliques then "

thats too easy an excuse because it always leaves the blame elsewhere....

people will have met others at clubs... or at socials and chatted and become good friends, unless you are now saying that is a bad thing???

if you go to socials then you are bound to get to know people better.....

if you go to a pub... or to a football game...for example, then you will get to know people

what people call clique I call familiarity....

Deviant City

I have made one or two friends who use the forums and we keep in touch via text or on here.

Some I've met in clubs and a lot of others through socials.

As a single fem, I had to make the effort to make friends with people and there are still others I'd like to meet.

Sadly I will struggle to drive to Kent, so will be missing that social, but sure there will be others, like the Sheffield one in November.

If I sat at home, behind the laptop, I'd never get to meet anyone.

As somebody who can be shy and lacks in confidence and i don't show my personality in the forums, meeting other forumites has boosted some of that confidence.

Oi! I resemble that remark

Met a few regular forumites on several occasions and consider them pals, mainly stay in contact via the site, only using texts when arranging to meet...The rest of you, I just haven't got my grubby little paws on yet, but don't worry, most of you are on the list

Is it a crime to stay in contact and be friends with people that you have met?

As still a newish fem on here I certainly do not see these so called cliques. Most of all I see people being nice and chatting, albeit on a forum. Never felt excluded, and I think it gives a lot away about people and their personalities do show in here. "

Always into interaction with babes too, of course. Became good cyber-buddies with a lovely girl after some messages about issues to do with the children. She put me in her friends list. We chatted and said hi quite a lot. She was 200 miles away though!!!

Here's the thing (and take it from someone who once felt like the outsider looking in)

When i joined, i avoided both the chatrooms and the forums like the plague. Then i ventured into the forums, as it seemed like the lesser of two evils. Did it "seem" like there were cliques to start with? Of course it did. It was new territory for me, and there were already "established" personas and friendships.

For newbies, your attitude shouldn't be about breaking in, but more about just enjoying the experience.

And i can't stress it enough....if you have the opportunity to get to a social in person, then DO IT. meeting people in the flesh can really change, or cement your opinion of them, especially when there isn't the veneer of a keyboard to use as a shield. And you might make some friends along the way too.

I dont talk to that many people and im not that well known but the onea i.do talk to are ace and those i havnt already met i cant wait to meet.

If you like a persons personality on threads talk to them...meet them ita the way forward.

I had a bit of a forum crush and i didnt mail them as i thought they got enough attention....and in the end im glad i finally did.
