"Chimpanzees enter into "deals" whereby they exchange meat for sex, according to researchers.
Male chimps that are willing to share the proceeds of their hunting expeditions mate twice as often as their more selfish counterparts.
This is a long-term exchange, so males continue to share their catch with females when they are not fertile, copulating with them when they are.
The team describe their findings in the journal PLoS One.
She and her team observed the animals as they hunted, and monitored the number of times they copulated.
"By sharing, the males increase the number of times they mate, and the females increase their intake of calories," said Dr Gomes."
So what they are saying is, take them out for dinner first? Could they not have worked this out by looking at any other species, a bit closer to home?
And secondly, imagine the conversation: "Good day at work dear?"
"Yes, I had to watch monkeys doing it all day!"
See, there are worse jobs than yours....

Chimpanzees are also said to be the only living thing besides us that have sex for pleasure, rather than only to reproduce, chimpanzees also perform oral sex on each other and they also do same gender sex, lesbian behaviour in chimpanzees is very common |

when i read the title of this thread, i thought someone had been to prague the same time as i was there... apparantly a strip bar act that involved a monkey and a dwarf!! never did find where it was, not sure who i feel most sorry for! |
