When you have a meet?
Inspired by a bit of banter on another thread, it seems DB9 Queen's ornaments (some of which I'm assuming are on the mantelpiece, otherwise I wouldn't be able to use a sexual type pun as thread title) are crystals, Toby jugs, brasses, porcelain pigs and collectable plates of the Queen Mother...as Jazz Club Guy would say - Niiiice
So, what's on your mantelpiece? I'll start off...
Brass buddha, crystal ball (gift from spiritualist colleague), brass/wood cat ornament, stone with hole in it that I picked up in Sahara when balloon landed, lipstick (that should be elsewhere), pictures of myself, my niece and my god-daughter and finally train ticket to Dat London and my ticket for Roger Water's The Wall at Wembley
'kin 'ell - that's quite a busy mantelpiece! |

Actually I don't have a mantlepiece! It's an inset fireplace with a bioethanol fire in it on a slate shelf. So there!
IN the fireplace, around the fire, I have an oil burner - the type you put tealights in - an African mask style candle holder and three glass pots holding candles.
I like candles.

Really? There are folk without mantelpieces??? I sense an appeal and a telethon coming on to aid those suffering from lack of sufficient area to display bric-a-brac, wicker donkeys and other chavvy tat...ok then - I'll widen it out - to general ornaments and tat - what you got??? |

There was one circa 1940s. Ripped it out to reveal a lovely curved fireplace. I like the minmal look. But a telethon would be nice so I can buy more candles. |

My people are talking to Wogan's people about hosting it - already signed up Jedward and last year's I'm a Celeb first one out...the thing is, View's kinda spoiling it by having what seems like proper gay and classy ornamentation - not sure I can get enough z-listers on board if I can't get him to say he's also got a yellow penis shaped drinks receptacle from a Magaluff 70's themed pub somewhere on display |

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I have more tat than space. Candles, little bits of ceramics, including bits of my pottery, and lots and lots of photos of the boys when they were little.
Oh, and a glass bowl full of marbles (safer than keeping them in my head). |

That was my first thought Bobby, then I remembered I'd opened it out to general ornamentation upon finding out that many people don't infact have mantelpieces |

"I've got 48 elephants on mine.
Where do you live? The Serengeti?"
Not full size elephants! Small(ish) ornamental ones from all over the world. Whenever someone I know goes abroad they bring back an elephant for the mantelpiece. The larger ones go on the hearth. |

I was thinking Torquay, but that was herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the plain wasn't it??? |

Mine changes daily but currently sat on there is a glass clock with passports, alton towers tickets and various concert tickets stuffed behind it, my pandora bracelet, an empty Peroni bottle, packet of Marlborough lights, my daughters tin of blue m&m's and a gorgeous Jo Malone candle! |

Imagine the mess they leave - now that's going to be one HUGE litter tray! A skip might be more convenient. |

We once had a cat who slept on the mantlepiece. She would not countenance any other ornaments. She fell off a couple times but that did not put her off. However we did have one guest who was considerably put out when the ornament on the mantlepiece yawned. |
