Yes, been down every avenue to try to get rid of them too.

Somebody last told me that when you see one of the offending numbers calling, dont pick up, just dial 9 and you'll be taken off their call list.

It's actually worked for us, so try that.

Simply explain to them that the number they have rung is in fact a commercial phone number and they will take you off of their list as they think they are wasting their time.....works for me

I see how long I can get then to hold the line "Hang on a minute. There's someone at the door" etc then tell them to feck off after about five minutes of holding.

I've registered for no cold calls but they just keep coming.

I'll try your suggestion

The advice I was given is that, if unsolicited, they're illegal.

If you're cold called by one of these companies try to find the company name and then report them to the financial services ombudsmen.

I cant explain what I dont actually know but by experience, I took my brother's word for it and pressed nine without engaging the caller (without picking up) and the phone stopped ringing. Same number never called back.

Saying that they do eventually just get replaced by another number, but it beats telling someone from the continent of fucking asia to give me their business address and put their manager on the line lol

My friend told me that they have staff sitting at A&E reception listening to people's details as they book in.

It's scandalous!

I always ask door to door sales people and religious types if they're my social worker of probation officer. They soon disappear!

Don't see how not answering and pressing 9 can work, it won't send a dtmf tone until after you have answered the call,

Tell them you are TPS registered if your are not get TPS (telephone preference service, register online) registered

Doesn't stop them all but reduces them and gives you something to tell them to get them off the phone

That said my proffered method is to wind them up, the longer you can keep them had a double glazing sales person on for 45min once then told them "house is housing association and they had just put new windows in will they take them out or the housing association" was brilliant hearing her figure it out, I was swore at,

It has worked, I'm not making random things up. And it stops me hulking out and picking the phone up to describe how I would like to meet their manager and use my phone as a suppository lol

they are not illegal, unles you have requested to be taken of their calling list, which is free, dial 100 directory enquiries and ask for your number to be removed

all calls made after 8pm to a bt or virgin landline are prohibited and are regulated by ofcom but mobile networks do not fall into that category and you can get spam text messages and calls from these idiots anytime of the day or night also your networks sell these idiots your mobile numbers to contact you even if you try to block your number but theres talk in parliament of making ofcom regulate this loop hole

Whilst not PPI or accident line callers I had the well known PC virus scam call today. I did wonder when I'd get one.

Guy says hello he works for Microsoft security etc. I said oh ok, and I suppose my PC has a virus and you're going to tell me how to fix it by doing bla bla bla....

Anyway seems he got bored of listening to me waffling away and hung up

I have call barring on my line, anybody withholding the number can't get through.

The sods that ring from abroad get through. And I enjoy asking them questions lol
