Although not in the same league of greatness as the original Fiat 500, I once owned a Fiat 126 and have to admit I really regret selling it...

There was a people carrier version of the 500 back in the 60's - or at least what passed for a people carrier back then. If you look closely in the traffic jam scenes in The Italian Job (the real one!!!! None of this American muck!!) you can spot a fair few of them, one of which contains a group of choirboys all playing poker

ted.

Well the new versions are in my opinion just marketing ploys on the back of the originals, be that the beetle, mini or fiat 500 although they are nice cars but that 7 seater 500 is just shockingly bad. This is the company that made the multipla though so it shouldn't be that much of a shock...

Thank you, it's just wrong, and not only that when I tell people about my brother who is 6'8" buying the old fiat 500 for his wife and having to drive it back they are going to think that's not so bad lol

The Multipla killed the claim the Italians know everything about design, chic and style!

I love the 500, just wish I fitted in one properly because I'd have an Arbarth as a second car.

Everyone knows I'm an Italian car lover...

Did they have the same crash gearbox as the original 500?

That was the original Multipla and based on the 600 which was the halfway between the 500 and the 850. As a parts salesman for a local Fiat dealer I had the dubious pleasure of filing through a parts list for one!
