I play union, national level, and I can honestly league is harder. It's fast, intense, the tackling much more physical.
You're looking for the speed, the fitness of the players. They're 2 different sports, best not compare them, just enjoy the game |

Newcastle and Gateshead |
i love watching a properly good defensive rugby league game... it is fantastic which is why I love watching "state of origin"......
you should be able to recognise the defensive lines as most of the best union defensive coaches started off in league... |

"hmmmmmm i miss the bone crunching tackles and rucks with both teams competing for the ball"
There's still bone crunching tackles, and higher impact tackles because there's no rucks.
Unions a much slower game, though much stronger because of the different type of players, ie slow moving props to shit off a shovel full back! League they're all very similar.
But I prefer union |

Union is not necessarily slower...watch southern hemesphere games....
The scrum half does not keep thee ball in the rucks...as soon as the ball is available its out to the backs..
The north have made union faster...once a ruck is called the scrum half has 5 seconds to do something with it or its a penalty... |
