Who's your Valentine?

My Valentine is my own lovely wife, Siren, and this poem just about sums it up for me.

THE PRESENCE OF LOVE

====================

And in Life's noisiest hour,

There whispers still the ceaseless Love of Thee,

The heart's Self-solace and soliloquy.

~

You mould my Hopes, you fashion me within;

And to the leading Love-throb in the Heart

Thro' all my Being, thro' my pulse's beat;

You lie in all my many Thoughts, like Light,

Like the fair light of Dawn, or summer Eve

On rippling Stream, or cloud-reflecting Lake.

~

And looking to the Heaven, that bends above you,

How oft! I bless the Lot that made me love you.

~

Those of you not too happy about being alone on Valentines day, jeez, enjoy it, you don't have to put up with the pretence that it's the most romantic day of the year, when to me it's the least romantic, being told to be romantic is not romantic.

I don't and wont do Valentines day.

Everyday with a loved one is Valentines day.

I appreciate who i have got and every day i thank the big man up the sky that i have met a special woman who i love dearly.

But sometimes God is a cock as i am single at the moment

Im actually GLAD im on my own.

If you see what some people have to do in order to get a response from their so called loved one, i would rather not bother.

Romance etc should be an every day thing and not just once a year and line the pockets of the shops etc.

Totally agree with you but sometimes the everyday life can become a bit mundane !!!!

so maybe a gentle nudge both ways can help

hate the way the hotels and restaurants put their prices up for this weekend as well !!!

where's the romance in that lol

We each find our own 'level' in the world and those that can afford to go that extra mile for the one they love, do so. But those that aren't so fortunate still show their love on this special day in other, more simple ways.

I don't see Valentine's Day as a rip off, no more so than Mother's Day, Father's Day, one's own birthday or even Christmas. We need these special days to break up the monotony and humdrum of every other day as we go about our business. We need to remind ourselves, as well as our significant other, that there is love & laughter in our lives - and how much is it appreciated; as there are those who do not open their eyes each morning and be thankful that the person they love is still lying next to them.

Long live Romance, in all it's guises and wherever you may find it.

As they say.... better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. xx
