I have never known a team that pretty much knows where it's going to finish at the end of every season before its started!!

Surely Wenger can see that they haven't got the team to win or challenge for the league and they haven't for years but he thinks saving his money is the answer.

I'm a Liverpool fan and although we've finished near the bottom of the top half the last few seasons at least we swim against the tide every now and again and win a cup. Would rather that than finish 4th every year....

Yeah. I agree. Early doors but still not happy as with the current squad, we should have won that game.

Wenger must stay and must stop dithering and be decisive. This season has the foundations to be Arsenal's year with Fergie retiring and the other members of the "big four" changing managers. It's open season on the league. Wenger should have landed Higuain for £30 million but dawdled on the price only to try and go £10 million more to try and land Suarez. Why?!

No point in bragging about money if you're not spending it.

Wenger's past 8 years have caught up with him I feel when trying to make new signings. The intent has been there, but 8 years and no trophy see's some players moving on.

Not 100% his fault though. And the defeat at the weekend wasn't down to him.

I'm 100% certain he will make challenge for 4th spot or higher again this season. But he needs to sort out losing to lower league teams in the cups. Arsenal are easily capable of a cup run

So no, I don't think its Wenger's time to go. And which managers are available? Arsenal want a top quality manager and they are all in top quality jobs...?

Wenger is the 3rd highest paid football manager in the world. I can only assume his wage is not performance related! The Gunners will not qualify for the CL next year... it will be very funny if they get knocked out of the qualifiers this year!

Wegner is he tries to use his economics degree too much at arsenal. Happy to waste millions on rubbish players like Santos and Metersacker, yet won't spend the market rate on quality players.

The wage structure at arsenal has been wrong for quite a while - he is happy for the average players like to Denilson, Schillachi and Bendtner to be over £50,000 a week when they have done nothing to warrant being paid that much, yet won't pay top dollar to established quality players. Arsenal have been trying all round europe to get rid of Bendtner but no-one will pay him what he is on at arsenal, even when the fee has been agreed. Look at arsenals wage bill and its far bigger than Spurs, yet they only just beat them to 4th spot last season.

Not worried one bit.

People have been saying for years that Arsenal won't make the top four but what happens? Wenger always pulls it off. Despite the magic of Bale.

Yes we should've paid what was required to get the top class players. Don't like Suarez so I'm happy for him to stay at Liverpool.

The team played well against Villa but bad defending and dodgy refereeing cost us the game.

Everyone will write us off but I'm confident Wenger will sort the problem out and get us back up the league table.

FFS it's just one game. I'd rather be in our position than Birmingham, Portsmouth or Wigan. All recent cup winners.

Get behind the team and support them through thick and thin.

Every fan saying they are happy with 4th . Don't you want to see your team kick on and maybe challenge for 3rd or 2nd and then go for the title....I would rather win a trophy every now and again then get 4th every year and see your club stagnate....Arsenal have the money to compete with the top clubs, a great manager, a fantastic stadium and a good business model but Wenger needs to change the attitude of the club that 4th is like winning the league now!

I'm not an arsenal fan, but enjoy the way they play... Up until this season they've not the big bucks that utd, city, Chelsea, Liverpool and to a certain extent Tottenham have had to spend on multiple big signings each season.

Despite all that, he has maintained a steady position both in the league and financially, while others have either done well as expected, given the dosh they've spent, or floundered. He's made a few transfer blunders, as have most managers...but overall I think he's done tremendously well. The next two seasons will be interesting....now he's got a bigger bank balance. It could be that some players are waiting on their champs league qualification.....time will tell, but it's certainly too early to say!

i am a gooner through and through but i just think he is losing it. spurs are even with the times and spending the money the mugsmashers look to have a good team this season so that leaves us fighting harder than before for 4th spot if at all. no point in looking above 4th arsenal aint strong this season and its not my view just after one game its a view of looking at the squad and looking at wenger he just looks on edge and well not botherd....

Am I happy with finishing 4th every season? Of course not.

Do I want us to be ambitious and and challenge for the title? Yes I do.

Just because we're a big club with a lot of money to spend doesn't mean we're entitled to win a trophy.

I'm sorry but I'm not having Arsenal playing in the Europa League on a Thursday night. I'd rather we didn't qualify for Europe at all.

The board need to sort out how they finalise transfers cos at the moment it looks shambolic.

But listen.... I've supported the club long enough to remember the days when we were languishing around mid-table, Highbury half full, no champions league and winning the odd domestic trophy.

Do I want those mediocre days of the mid 90's to come back? No way!

Sometimes you have to be grateful for the position you find yourself in life.

Why bankrupt ourselves so we can end up like Leeds/Nottingham Forest etc... and be in the championship?

No thanks. When we're in danger of being relegated in April/May, then I'll start to complain.

I agree... you have to look at the way dick law and ivan gazidis conduct the transfer business, and they look inept at the moment

bring back david dein, let usmanov have a seat on the board

I hate the way the AST has gone about this.... the issue is the transfer policy and wenger isn't the one conducting those....

i'm thinking all those calling for wenger's head, must be feeling pretty embarrassed right now.

his signing of Ozil, was genius, not only did it turn the tide of selling his best players,it also signified a heightened ambition, breathing a renewed confidence throughout the whole team.

thats the thing... I think it showed up that where arsenal probably have a squad of 15 that can compete with anyone... it not got the depth of 25 that chelsea has....

it did show up a few things....

1) can't afford giroud to get injured!

2) shows how much of an effect flamini not being there....

if we are still there or there abouts at christmas... he still has to go out and get a defender, another defensive midfield and a striker...

you've had an easy run so far this season and now your tougher matches will start to test you.

Matter was a little excited post match forgetting the the city match was a Hart cock up and yours wasn't a full strength team either, although I do think the next few matches leading up to the new year will find you out and your lack of depth

"It's only the League cup and it wasn't a full first team. We're playing Liverpool on the weekend, remember?!

Come on you Gunners!!

you've had an easy run so far this season and now your tougher matches will start to test you.

Matter was a little excited post match forgetting the the city match was a Hart cock up and yours wasn't a full strength team either, although I do think the next few matches leading up to the new year will find you out and your lack of depth"

Bull.

If there's a cup you want to be knocked out of early, its the league cup, especially if your squad lacks depth.

Wenger and arsenal have been through a lean time, and confidence wise one season won't fix that, but next season will.

for all you doubters, and false soothsayers,I'm bringing this post up at the end of next season,

hoping by then they've added a two finger emotion.

"Unfortunately, it wasn't Chelsea's first team neither, - it shows the difference between the two squads though!

thats the thing... I think it showed up that where arsenal probably have a squad of 15 that can compete with anyone... it not got the depth of 25 that chelsea has....

it did show up a few things....

1) can't afford giroud to get injured!

2) shows how much of an effect flamini not being there....

if we are still there or there abouts at christmas... he still has to go out and get a defender, another defensive midfield and a striker..."

Errrrrrrrrrm but that was only a couple of things - when you actually said "a few things"

*..........awaits the next reason with genuine concern.........."Ö"
