I have always been taught that "justice as to be carried out at all costs"

Over the last few years the cold case reviews, operation Yewtree and now Princess Diana. The tree of truth seems to be shaken quite a lot at the moment. Is this a good thing or should we let history become that.

I always think that the truth is so difficult to prove many years after an event ...

Sorry No .....

Justice is highly important to me but not at ALL costs...

I don't want justice if it would harm the greater number of people.

But in carrying out these operations the standard of proof is not reduced, it is still the same albeit peoples accounts will differ and be more faded.

I think with Yewtree especially where it seems certain people considered themselves untouchable that Justice has to be served

Its slightly off topic but I always find people who say about the good old days frustrating a bit. The world develops for good or ill and we have very little control over it.

One example - these posts on facebook along the lines of 'If you were a kid of the 60's or 70's give yourself a pat on the back' and comments like 'kids could play outside with no fears' . Lets face it they aren't strictly true are they?!? It just seems it all went on but there was more cover ups

Justice (whatever that is) at all times would be a start.

Consider where the prosecution have either a) fabricated evidence or b) withheld the genuine truth. Even if the defendant is found not guilty, can it be said that Justice has truly been served? I think not.

True but then you have the likes of the Birmingham six, found not guilty but investigation never reopened

West mids serious crimes have a lot to answer for, along with the Carl Bridgwater case. What good they did so easily wiped away

Not sure on the full details, think it was Cheshire way a year or so ago, but what part of Justice was served when during a prosecution for some serious sex offence, at the actual trial a question was asked, maybe by the Judge himself. Obviously not verbatim but on the lines of :

"Is what we are watching real or is it a cartoon tiger?"

Case dismissed.

If Justice was served, those prosecuting would never work in that industry again. Surely?

Justice, like history is surely subject to whoever is in power and writing the history book or dishing out the justice.

But isn't our justice level handed and out of the reach of our government.

Whatever happened to liberty and justice for all
