my mum has asked me to think of some songs we could play at my brother's funeral, and it got me thinking. I know that I would have the following
good riddance - greenday
boulevard of broken dreams - greenday
you'll never walk alone.
but trying to choose good songs for someone else is hard, so I would be grateful for any suggestions |

Mine would include:
We have all the time in the world - the Iggy Pop cover
Hurt - Nine Inch Nail
Walk - Foo Fighters
and finally
Unfinished Sympathy - Massive Attack
Hope that helps. Good luck. |

The Seekers ..
the carnival is over ..
Hey there Georgie girl..
Scissor Sisters - Take your Mama out.
( My son would understand that as he has had me on his shoulders at many a concert whilst Jake sings to me and his own Mum )
and comfortably numb
Cold play -fix you
For hubby - ill never find another you..
Not so much into religious ceremony these songs from my past would be ideal. I would much prefer people would sing those and smile than be sad . |

"Mine's in my will !
Still There - Mike Stern...no need to apologise if you've never heard of it !
Good choice.... "
Stern's my favourite guitarist by a country mile and that song reduced Mrs JFL to a blubbering wreck at Ronnie Scott's, so it was an easy decision |

We had Good Riddance by Green Day at my nephew's funeral - he was learning it at the time he died so it seemed extra poignant.
At my dad's we chose 'May it be' by Enya and 'Time to say goodbye' by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman.

My mate had that as her first dance at her wedding.
Creeping Death might be more appropriate. "
Great song to have at either x |

Oooh thanks for the reminder. I'd also want Into the West by Annie Lennox. |

I giorni - Ludovico Einaudi
Lover, you should've come over - Jeff Buckley
Fade into You - Mazzy Star
Blood Bank - Bon Iver
Dispense with the religious elements to fit more songs in |

Dust in the wind by Kansas is a beautiful song, got it earmarked for my funeral, but maybe a song that is special to the family or your brother would be better.
My thoughts and love to you and your family at this sad time x |

I think the best thing to do is look through his record/cd etc. collection and pick something personal to him. If he has an iPod (other brands are fine too) then check his most listened to songs for inspiration. |
