Sex on tap in pubs....

Sorry not sex, I meant water

We went to a local pub last night with friends of ours around midnight after going for a meal first. A couple of the group just wanted water to let their food digest before getting back on the alcohol.

So I ordered a bottle of beer, a wine and soda and two glasses of tap water....the manager of the pub looked at me in disgust and started moaning quite loudly that I should have ordered water at another pub across the road and not his. I couldn't believe it what with all these drinking responsibly campaigns that he was suggesting that I should have ordered 4 alcoholic drinks instead just to line his pockets. I told him that he was out of order and I hadn't just asked for 4 free drinks.

Obviously I made a point the next time I went to the bar of ordering a glass of tap water with my beer!!

I know pubs have to make a profit but surely this pub would make more profit by being helpful and then getting my future custom rather than me refusing to go in there now and bad mouthing them to anyone who will listen...

I know it's not Thursday but had to get that rant out....

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I would have cancelled the order and given the pub across the road the custom.

The pub across the road closes at 12 and this one stays opened til 2 and has a disco.

It's a little market town we live in so quite restricted about where we can drink but will not be going back in a hurry.

They will lose more custom due to people not being entertained by my dancing now

I've never heard of Leeds being discribed as a little market town before

It's illegal for a licensed premises not to serve tap water.

Apparently, it is compulsory for licensed premises to give drinking water free of charge upon request.

Unlicensed premises have no obligation to do so but often do.

If refused, just remind the manager he's liable for upto a £20k fine if he doesn't do so. (s136 Licensing Act 2003)

The Town by The Cross

It is illegal for tap water to not be available.

There are taps in the loos ....

As long as the water meets required standards it's available.

Well I suppose he did give me the water but it was the manner in which he did that p!ssed me off...

The second time I went to the bar and a girl served me, she asked if I wanted ice which I accepted but I heard him tell her that don't put ice in....what a cock....

I wouldn't mind but I've defended him to other people as he is quite old and he's had to change the pub to allow younger people in to keep the pub going and they've taken the piss out of him as he has the shakes.

Just shows that some people just love to upset people...
