Why do peeps get annoyed and nasty when we tell them that we don't meet non-smokers? Many profiles state that people won't meet smokers, so what's different about us stating that we won't meet non-smokers? People don't seem to like that! |

I can appreciate that people might not like the smell/taste of it if they don't smoke themselves.
I don't smoke myself but do love the taste of it on others so conversely was just wondering why a smoker would not want to meet a non-smoker? |

I enjoy, really enjoy a cigarette and to be honest, I don't feel comfortable lighting up in my house in front of people who don't smoke. I feel even more uncomfortable lighting up in someone elses home if they don't smoke even if they insist it's ok. This is MY preference but I keep getting hassle for it. Not every non smoker likes the taste of someone elses nicotine! |

We feel the same as most
We WILL NOT smoke in your house if your non smokers or even smokers that dont smoke in the house
We WILL NOT smoke in your car
But in our own home we smoke, we will use mints and we will open windows
We have had 3 mails from couples today that "wont meet smokers" (annoyingly one of the couple has to be one of the cutest we have been approached by for many a month, but we "wont meet people who wont meet smokers"
We will meet non-smokers providing they accept the above criteria.
We dont want to meet anyone if we feel uncomfortable before the meet even starts be it because of thier smoking criteria or age criteria.
I agree why should non-smokers get upset at people who wont meet them because they dont smoke, we dont get upset at people that wont meet smokers, we respect thier criteria without complaint.
Perhaps we should ask Admin for a "wont meet non-smokers" option on profiles |

I worked once at mcvities.
Great big canteen.
Half for smokers and the other half for NON smokers.
Sat there one day on much needed break. lit up and pleasently sighed...
When this woman said, "do you mind putting that out"
I said words to the effect of "koff" and im sat in the right place.
Turns out she was a non smoker who wanted to sit by her friend. who was....
Well.......she soon fooking moved i can tell ya.  |

And that what annoys me.
I work with old dears and some have smoked all their lives. well most of it.
In the war they were given ciggies when in the forces. encouraged to smoke as it kept them happy ish.
Now they have to stand outside to have a ciggie , in the bad weather etc. when they had their own room with air con and fans etc and not a problem.
Then some sancitmonious holier than tho prick comes up with the idea of banning it inside.
They and millions like them earned the right to smoke if they so wished.
And not to be treated like fooking lepers.
Choice....we forget that part of it.  |

I have to wheel out a lady who is 97 yrs old. because she wants one of the 5 ciggies she smokes daily.
I also take out other from the ages of 65 to 82 in order that they can have a smoke.
What people dont realise is.....ITS AN ADDICTION.....a very strong one at that.
But these old folk sit shivering in order to satisfy that craving.

Show the courage of your convictions, if smokers in the UK had shown more conviction then they would have done as they do in many parts of Spain....and ignored the EU driven law.
It's all very well moaning about the no smoking laws now when it's all done and dusted, if you smokers had shown some conviction when it really mattered you could have collectively broken the law when it came in. |

The Spanish still smoke anywhere they like, they still smoke in Restaurants, they still smoke in the no smoking parts of bars....because they refuse to have the EU tell them what to do.
Our best friends run a bar in Ibiza, they long ago ripped up their no smoking posters and stickers when it was totally ignored by the locals.
On the other hand the British smokers rolled over and laid down over smoking regulations.....far easier for them to moan about the law instead of having the conviction to stick together and stand up for themselves.
I don't smoke but I thought smokers would have shown the balls and made this law a joke as many europeans have done. |

You can still legally smoke in bars in this country
If you are an MP or a a Member of the house of Lords or are invited into thier bars by one of them as it is legal to smoke in bars in the House of Lords and the House of Commons or in certain areas of Buckingham Palace (because that is classed as a residence even though it is now open to the public) |

Ask your friend in Ibiza what they think of the Spanish judicial system in comparison to the UK's. I think your answer as to why British smokers didn't fight the smoking ban lies therein. |

I think its a much nicer environment to be in
What I don't like is the areas that are outside for smokers are normally absolute filth pits with cigarette butts on the floor even if there are ashtrays to put them out in

I can't understand why anyone would be annoyed or nasty cos you don't meet non smokers! It's all about personal preferences, we don't meet smokers but wouldn't be nasty to anyone because they do! Seems a bit daft really. |
