I trust people if they prove to me they can be trusted. I guess that works in reverse as well; i'd only expect people to trust me if i prove i'm trustworthy.
It might sometimes come across as cold hearted or even paranoid, but i'm mostly a realist.
Gosh i sound so jaded. |

What if someone your spending time with is making you question your trust? Its not nice to be suspicious but what if it is just very suspicious?
Dilemma of my day lol |

"Im in a deep reflective mood today
I wasn't till licketys posts started me off!! "
Sorry. You all keep saying things that make me think of another thing. I've held back on all the deep and meaningfuls swimming around in the soup that is my mind.
Look at the one second thing instead. It will all go away then. |

"If you don't trust people why should they trust you?
Do you trust people?"
I thought that I had lost my ability to trust after my mistreatment last year... I'd never trusted anyone.... And to have that betrayed I was sure I would never trust anyone again... Yet I find myself giving my total trust again... And it's enabling me to try so much more...
So I can... But it's not something I do easily...

I've been betrayed too many times, so I taught myself to stop trusting people.

I did that.. my own family caused me to not trust from when I was little.. it spilled on to relationships and relationships which you don't or can't trust or give yourself to are ultimately doomed..
I went over 30years without trusting anyone but myself.. then I let someone in and he tore me apart.. so I put up the barriers.. but someone sneaked in... And it's illogical and totally out of character for me but I trust him totally...And did do from pretty much day one...
I just have to believe it won't be betrayed...
But it's hard.. for me my own parents destroyed my trust in people keeping their word. |

Trust is not something I give away lightly, the person I trusted most destroyed a lot of my faith in trust.
I take people at face value now and trust will come |

Metaphorically speaking, The best thing to do is probably to keep your barriers up all the time but leave like a small window open. This way you will be able to trust enough for relationships not to be damaged and at the same time you will always be ready for incase you are about to be betrayed. It will still hurt but not as much as it could hurt. I just don't think only trusting yourself is the right thing to do. 'Trust is a two way street' so what if you ever need the trust of another person? They can't give it to you because you only trust yourself. Your mistake really. |

I trust me... To trust other people...
The thought of not getting close to someone, because of the mistakes made by others, is not one I could live with... |

I think I do trust them, I just don't believe them. I was lied to about anything and everything for a very long time. So now I can't believe anything people tell me, even everyday stuff. |

I think that it all depends on how much trust you place in someone else's hands.
Some folk you couldn't trust with a fiver if you sent them to the shop for a loaf of bread & a pint of milk, others however you could depend on to save your life if push comes to shove. |
