Take it to a shop to be repaired.

Here and there

When you use the word external, that usually refers to something that you plug in. Do you mean the little metal mesh bits at the bottom of the phone? Only one of them is a speaker, the other is the microphone.

How are they broken? Or is it just that you have no sound?

Not that I'm likely to be able to help but, when you say 'fix', what exactly is wrong with them?

It's the small mesh speaker/s at the bottom of the hand set which won't work ie no ring tone or music

Sounds like internal damage.

I suspect you have accidentally flicked the little switch on the side.. I think its on the top left side of the phone... A little up down switch? It turns all sound on or off... Try putting it in the opposite position to what it is now and see if that helps.

Have you tried backing it up and restoring factory settings?

And there are no external sounds? i.e The sounds on apps don't work? Music? Ringtones?

But they all work fine with headphones?

I've had that occasionally and it was a bit of muck or something in the socket. Give it a blow and do a hard reset that always sorts mine out!!

Hmmm... Well you've done the 'turn it off and on again'... you've checked the switch and you've restored your phone... Could be a few things...

Could be stuck in headphone mode... normally leaving the headphones plugged in for a while will fix this.

Could be dirty speaker... taking a clean toothbrush to it (very gently) may help.

Also it may be a lose bit in the speaker... sometimes applying some gentle pressure where the speaker is for a few seconds rectifies this.

Speaker is at the bottom right as you look at the phone.

These are all punts though and it does sound like a hardware issue and you may just need to take it to your apple store... How long have you had it?
