It certainly is bad for your skin.
Also it stinks and nothing worse than fag breath and at approx £6.00 a packet it amazes me than some of my mates say they are always skint yet they can fork out for 20 cancer sticks.......
Only joking but as an ex smoker i always have a relapsed when i am d*unk and tbh i do miss my ciggies but i gave up for health benefits and due to the cost. If my mates are outside the pub i will join them and i don't mind passive smoking |

Very bad for me but I still do it.
Hate those that drink to excess, especially those that drink to excess and complain about smokers how far up yourself do you have to be to believe that only smoking affects those around you, causes problems for the National Health and the Country in general. |

Agree with Jed and Sasha! We smoke. Not proud about this (health, smell like ashtrays, pay too much in tax etc). But not ashamed either. Each to their own drug, right? But J&S are right, when it clearly says "smokers" on a profile, why do people who "will not meet smokers" bother to get in touch? |

Everyone always thinks lung cancer when they talk about cigarette harm. But there are loads of cases where blood circulation has been compromised, nerve damage sets in and blokes in their forties have had their penises amputated through gangrene. They should put a pic of that on the side of the box it looks vile on a slab in the lab...
I have many more gruesome tales from the lab but don't want to put you off your dinner... |

being an ex smoker 1 yr now i have to stick up 4 the smokers .. most smokers started when they were young and naive its not easy just to give up...and i'm quite sure most would in a heartbeat if they could its addictive like nowt on earth..so cut em a break lol they are already classed as social lepers and yes its def wayyyy bad 4 you ...lol |

I totally agree with you - it used to be cool to smoke and it was well promoted way back when and has to be hard for seasoned smokers to give up. But I cannot for the life of me with all the health education available understand why anyone would ever start these days. A lot of young girls smoke to stay slim  If they could catch their breath perhaps jogging is a healthier option lol!!"

Read recently, they are considering extending the smoking ban to include doorways of premises and pub gardens... Slippery slope to complete ban me thinks.

a complete ban will never ever happen they say its costs the nhs aprox 3 billion a year in smoking related illness yet recieves 9 billion a year from cigarette tax....easy maths hence why the gov hasnt banned it yet |

i get so bloody fed up bieng told what i can do and what i cant do.
cant eat this, cant drink that. Cant smoke there , cant smoke here.
Cant smoke if a workman comes to your home. ffs.
I respect those who dont and wont smoke round kids.etc....I do all the things im told to do and its really issing me off.
Im an adult and pay more than my fair share of taxes. More than a non smoker.
Im probably paying for ya aunties knee replacement or freds methadone ...
But i say nothing.
But bieng told i stink etc, annoys me and makes me angry.
I know folk who dont smoke and they stink worse than me.

I object to this comment for the following reasons:
My husband and I are the only ones who smoke in our group of friends (real life friends that is) we also have 2 kids and a cat who does not go outside she therefore uses a litter tray in my kitchen.
Now you would think my house would smell of ashtrays and cat pee wouldnt you?? Well it doesnt, and you want to know why?? Cos we are clean and open windows and clean our home properly. You would be amazed how often I have walked into a non smokers home and noticed a smell (which as a smoker I am not supposed to be able to do since many studies have shown smokers sense of smell is weaker than non smokers) which they havent noticed - a friend has a very young son still in nappies and I can always smell when he needs changed before his mother can for instance.
Yes my clothes will smell - of whatever perfume I am wearing at the time of meeting someone.
I have had people walk into my flat and say sorry for allowing the cat to follow them in, and I laugh and explain she lives here and show them her food bowls and litter tray in the kitchen (under a worktop) and always they say sorry and tell me its cos they cant smell her, then they notice an ashtray and again say they didnt know we smoked cos there is NO smell.
Im not stupid enough to say I dont smell of my smokes cos I know Im a heavy smoker but I also dont sit somewhere and moan about other peoples body odours - which by the way stink way more than I ever have as a heavy smoker.

For comedy value I just moved half the pictures in the room my husband and I smoke in the most.
Now I will give you a bit background info so you undersand the situation.
We moved into our flat almost 4 years ago and still havent redone the living room (at the moment it has white paper yet to be painted on the walls which was pit up within 6 months of us moving in) and guess what no staining around where the pictures were, no nicotine coloured ceiling.
So why do you feel you have to make sweeping statements?? You cannot have visited every single smoker and moved their pictures so you can not possibly know if they all have this staining around things on their walls.

Had this silly old fart once come and tell me to put me fag out when i was in a queue at the post office.
He said he had a bad chest.
I asked where he was standing ? turns out he was first in the queue.
I was nearly last in the queue...bout 30 people before me.
I had just finished a night shift working with dementia cases and it had been very difficult.
so my fag was so welcome at 8.50 am.
I politely told him to go away and leave me alone. he wouldnt so told him to fook off before i stuck the offending fag somewhere he would need it operating on.
He went off moaning and growing and the people next to me said. well done you.
I then waited for him to finish in the post office and followed him round town smoking like a trouper.
Yes it was mean and petty .
but felt so kin good. |
