Those people aren't wired up the same as us. It's impossible to attach reason or sanity to their actions.

ok lets encourage suicide for these people

why would any one want to keep them for years in a prison.. just give them some pills a rope a razor blade let them deal with themselves.

That is just an appaling thing to do !!

I agree.

As utterly appalling as this is, whatever the detail, one could argue that the sickness lies with the political leaders.

Why nuke it? Just put a couple of dozen or so on at one time. With food for one.

I shall reserve judgement until they are found guilty.

Fortunately we still run our legal system according to the presumption of innocence.

Yep! I dread ever being wrongly accused of anything because its very clear that most people would just assume I had done it

Remember the ritual abuse stories a while back? Parents had children removed. It was all discredited later as they were innocent. Tore families apart. Those parents were treated like paedophiles before it even got to court.

Nothing like a lynch mob.

The police wont usually charge someone without quite a bit of evidence behind the for fear of being taken to book.

That said if this is anywhere near true these and other's like them should be taken out of the gene pool altogether castrate him and sterilise her so as no innocent child can be near these lowlifes ever again.

There are guidlines in place for sentences in all cases which dont seem to be upheld because they have been good in jail while there.

The sentence should be the sentence and nothing else 5,10,20 years should be exactly that and if needs be build more jails as they are already overcrowded, Or even better lets have an offshore penal colony where once you are sent there you stay ther til time is served completely, pandering to family and friends so they are located near their home town /where they committed the offences is laughable and a smack in the mouth of normal hard working law abiding people

Yes sadly I do I also remember the paediatrician whose house was attacked because someone got their words mixed up. The crime itself is heinous lets not pin it on anyone until its been proved it was them.

Don't tell me, the "social services" people got bonuses and promoted.

I know of one who left a Council under a severe cloud, paid off even, and got a top job elsewhere. Some few years later an all-party parliamentary committee reported that his latest organisation was "Not fit for purpose". Not that it ever was mind.

What adds to the sadness is that there are thousands of decent people desperate for one reason or another, to adopt children and give them a good and loving upbringing.

Ridiculous hurdles put in their way doesn't help.

Well, we havent managed to place any babies this year, but all our polices are neatly typed up and filed correctly. Alongside our racial/sexual/age/whatever profiling.

Imminent vomit icon.

What??? How is this anything to do with the coalition government? Do you think the sick fucks capable of committing such atrocious acts haven't been around since the dawn of humanity?

This is another discussion that seems to polarise the site.

On one side we have: castration is too good for them and I'd hang em etc

On the other side we have: let's wait and see if they're guilty and the punish them accordingly based on the rule of law

Neither side changes its views and everyone gets quite irate.

I'd echo the comments made earlier

1) no one is actually guilty yet

2) people who comit crimes such as these often have huge psychiatric issues and they'll probably end up at a special hospital

Having worked in this area I disagree totally. These people don't commit these offences because they are mentally ill, and they will go to prison, not a hospital.

These men (its usually men) are manipulative individuals who usually plan and groom the victims for long periods of time. If the offences were committed due to poor mental health then these crimes wouldn't be done in secret with victims threatened into not telling, but in the open as 'they were ill' and knew no better.

Obviously this case is different as it was a baby, so therefore no grooming required.

I'm not saying that some of these men don't have mental health problems like any other sector of the community...but it's not the reason they target and abuse children!!

Fareham

Not every atrocity can be accredited to 'mental illness'. Some people are just evil to the core - plain and simple.

My thoughts are with the poor tot who has suffered at the hands of evil.

I too work in fhe field and I agree that those who groom aren't what would be deemed mentally ill but clearly have mental issues. In this type of case though, given what we know, I suspect that there are clear differences.
