Following on from the earlier best albums thread, who else has listened to a critically acclaimed classic album/cd and been puzzled as to what was supposed to be so good about it?. My own example is "Troutmask replica by Captain Beefheart. Try as I might I could not listen to this (and I do like to listen to some weird stuff, so I've been told) and get any enjoyment from it. Does anyone else have any suggestions? |

A friend leant me a Leonard Cohen album, the name of which escapes me, telling me it was fantastic. I have an eclectic taste in music and had high hopes. All I can say is thank God I'm a happy person and had consumed a couple glasses of rioja otherwise I'd have picked up the Gordon's, run a very hot bath and slit my wrist. What kind of person could listen to that more than once before wanting to top themself?!! |

Not exactly to thread, but I used to rave about an album I had on vinyl, called "Pampered Menial" by Pavlov's Dog.
I recently bought the digitally remastered cd.
Suppose my musical taste has changed, as now I can only listen to one or two tracks. |
