Luckily my daughter got an unconditional offer at her 1st choice uni to study law.... So in a few years to come I can retire and she can look after me |

Did she by any chance study AS Level English and Biology?
My daughter failed both of these, which is odd because she really did knuckle down this year - even more so because these were A* subjects and her projected grades were A's.
Yet she got 2 U's. Smelling a rat, I contacted everyone I know who took those courses or their parents and asked - right across the board they've all failed or gotten E's in English, and all failed Biology.
Coupled with an A and a C (both of which were predicted) I'm beginning to think the kids are telling the truth about misinformation - we've already had one bad AS exam where the exam was based on something not in the curriculum (remember the uproar early this year?)
Nevertheless, it's important that she realises that this is her wake up call, and that life doesn't end here. Every college I've spoken to outside of 6th form have offered a course which will get my daughter back on track - hard work but passable in a year and will make sure she has the UCAS points she needs for Uni.
So rather than the 'I told you so' (I did that in GCSE), some time sitting down, talking through options, looking for a reason for the results and considering if maybe another provider/environment is a better option.
It's the hardest day of the year for parents of 17 / 18 year olds, the day after the results, trying to make sure you don't break them a little more
