To quote Jeremy Paxman "There's far more porn about than there was 20 or 30 years ago! Are we all masterbating more or what?" PMSL

Why? I worry about the children I know being exposed to porn. I am even more concerned about some of the teenage young women I have met who tell me that they are expected to meet the expectations of teenage young men who have seen porn and think they should get that.

I think the contributor who said that 30 yrs ago most early exposure to porn was dads playboy etc and now its likely to be something very hardcore has a point..

Why did the whole item assume that it was just men that watched porn? It shows how out of touch they are!

Thanks to Jezebel for closing the other.

A man and a woman sitting in separate places, who have never met or spoken to each other in any way, are watching the same thing on the television device. By some quirk of time, space and the internet, they post at the same time and spookily post the same things.

Only kidding, it was a good debate & it said taht a third of women watch porn. I wonder how many admit to watching porn though? I remember Jeremy Clarkson saying a while back "70% of men admit to watching porn & the other 30% are liars!

I don't watch porn as it does nothing for me. I prefer reality. However, I know a lot of women (not on here) who enjoy porn.

I wonder how big the spike in internet porn will be tonight? All those Newsnight viewers just checking it out ready to have a deep and meaningful conversation based on a proper evidence base of course.

I agree, their accents put me off too! I like British girls best, closely followed by European girls.

I took loads of pictures of one of my Ex's over a few years. This is so much more erotic than anything on the internet as I was there & it wasn't staged either.

I bought a new computer last month & so now I keep off porn sites (because of viruses) & use what's on my hard-drive instead. I'm still friends with my Ex so it's not a problem between us.

I also avoid the porn on the Internet - full of virus' and used to bugger up my PC for days - and not a great lover of porn anyway - the real thing a bigger thrill

There were some industry workers & Paxo said that "It must be one of Britain's only growing industries" & they complained that all the work is usually stolen & people use it for free!

Yes the internet & big satellite stations have flooded the UK cheapening porn & the pirates have the rest, we market ours in the States as the government against European regs targets UK producers which is unfair.

Stealth taxes from ATVOD are crippling the small guys but the dinosaurs of porn will still carry as they are always one step in front of the government.

Thankfully the big sat companies are going under so once again porn should flourish for the few left...we hope lol!

I am a mother and any internet access my children have is carefully monitored by myself. they cannot see any porn and that's all that matters to me, to block what everyone sees is just silly, it should be down to parents to monitor what they see and not the government and for adults to make their own choices

Porn on the Internet was accessible when I was a teenager just as much as it is now (I'm only 25, wasn't brought up in the stone ages) and it never made me feel like I needed to live up to any expectations. I'm perfectly normal like all my other friends on swinging websites

I agree adults should make their own choices and I don't think monitoring opting in is a good or workable idea at all.

However, the young people I have met all know how to get around the blocks on their smart phones and images they have been exposed to have generally been as a result of group situations where they are daring each other.

The other way has been where someone is being malicious or just plain inappropriate.

If you are able to manage every interaction your children experience all well and good. I am merely advocating good education to include something on internet safety, respect and not assuming all women will behave as porn stars.

Even if a way could be found to stop Internet access to porn 100% completely and successfully, there's probably enough out there on hard drives/ DVDs etc to satisfy demand for a loooooooong time.

"....... the expectations of teenage young men who have seen porn and think they should get that."

An incident recently in a club brought this, in N's case painfully, home to us.

She was enjoying playing with a couple of guys, I would guess early to mid twenties, and as a result of being vigorously masturbated by one of them, came.

He apparently thought the correct response to this was to start smacking, hard her pussy! Just like he had seen in pornos, including those shown in the venue. He was told bluntly to stop and so threw a strop and left the room.

It appears many men we encounter, not just younger ones, want to do the cock choking, slapping, abusive stuff like they watch on screen but cannot or will not indulge in straight vaginal sex.

It's not the porns fault these guys are arseholes its the society they come from that raises them to believe its applicable in the real world.

All porogrphic content sould be hosted on sites which use a domain name ending in .xxx

Then, its simply a matter of blocking that domain. If all the upstream service providers signed up, and there was a reporting mechanism in place for adult material on other domain names, then restricting it is very very easy - all you have is a checkbox in the router software.

Its not perfect, but its a damn site easier that what Cameron wants the internet providers to try and do in this country!

Most of the industry was going to change over to the XXX domain but when it had a complete block in India,China,Middle East, southern States in the US we found it uneconomical to use.

Tube site are the biggest worry for children but funny enough the government overlook these & went after ones that needed credit cards to gain entry...crazy but what do you expect from these clowns.

The legit pornographers are an easy target but we keep within European law & try our hardest with a crap MP's who don't know their head from their arse lol!
