When sourcing a venue consider - car parking and access to nearby hotels/guest houses.
Most people seem to prefer venues with private event hosting facilities rather than being "stuck in the swingers" corner of a public bar.
Advertise it on the EVENTS page here to see what kind of response you will get |

Very good points.
Also, consider what people want from a social.
We have been to a few, and found that ones held somewhere where the music is loud and the place is absolutely packed are not as well recieved as others.
People go to a social usually to chat and meet, so being in a seperated section, perhaps with its own bar, always seems to go down well with the South Wales bunch, at the last one there were over 200 people there!! |

if it is anything like the other scottish socials it will fill up very quickly!!! trust me...
actually... what I would almost be tempted to suggest first would be to go to someone elses and talk to people there about possibly organising one... if only so you know what kind of task you are undertaking...
there are loads going on in scotland ( at the moment there are ones advertised for fife, inverness, perth ect...) and in the last couple of months there have been ones in edinburgh, glasgow, ayrshire ....
I am sure that if you ask in the scottish forums, or ask in the scottish chatrooms then you will get loads of helpful people that can guide you thru the perils and pitfuls....
sean.....
P.s I was trying to arrange a social for edinburgh as well so I did a fair bit or research on trying to find venues bit enough.... I got people to also help... |

One of the best social weekends i ever had was a "camping one"
At billings aquadrome.northampton.
Everyone turned up with huge tents, bbqs and windbreakers and we set our camp out in a circle with all the barbies etc in the middle.
Privacy came from the windbreakers.
But it was just a fun weekend.tho im sure sum mucky stuff went on under canvass.
We were right next to a field so we did rounders and got some plastic for water riding on.
It was brilliant. ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |
