I take bikes are taxed based on emission levels now too? Excellent if they are.

My car tax is £280 I don't think I'd particularly enjoy driving something that only costs £20 to tax (No offence meant) so I'll just have to pay more to Mr Cameron for the little bit of pleasure I get when driving.

Should have realised that, the biggest BMW bike isn't going to be a 2ltr

Bikes sort of always have been, different tax for 126cc and 125cc, maybe different too for 50cc but not sure about that. But actual emissions are not currently monitored, i.e. not part of the MOT test.

But just looked it up and the good news is my tax bill will be dropping quite a bit this year. New rates are

Not over 150 £17, 151-400 £37, 401-600 £57, Over 600 £78

So this year motorcycle tax will be £312 instead of £560.... hmmm wonder if I can get another 3 bikes in the garage

Pretty much how it was when I had bikes albeit a few £ different. I wonder when they will swap to tax based on emissions as many bikes have catalytic converters on these days and I'm sure with the smaller capacity engine sizes they can't be pumping out much more, if any more pollutants than cars? Those figures would be interesting to know.
