It's much cheaper up here!
I'm in a very sumptuous hotel at the same price as a Travelodge (ugh). We went shopping around Manchester and got loads but didn't spend a lot. It's also quite nice in Manchester.
The petrol is more expensive and it's not London but if I had to move up north I think it might be possible. |

It also takes about a fifth of the time to go anywhere! M60 is useable, we have Harvey nicks, good restaurants and people aren't angry all the Time! Personally I'd never move back to London and if I want to visit it's 2hrs on the train! |

I did find the lack of signage a bit frustrating but now in the middle of the city it's fine. There's a frozen yoghurt place to try too. If they have organic yoghurt in salted caramel then all is good. I just need John Lewis and Waitrose and my family across the road and I'd be ready to move. |

We do have Johnny Lou Lou and Waitrose in the North you know. And fuel prices are generally cheaper as long as you avoid motorway services and city centre petrol stations.
Add in the fact that all Northerners are 'aaaaard and we can sort the family issue with a few balaclavas and a tank of fuel. |

I doubt they would want to move. However, if the current economic situation continues for much longer then I might consider moving up - without them. |

Hull |
Having lived all over the UK, I find that the further North you go, it becomes better in every aspect.
Down in London and the South East, it's a different world! Everyone is rushing around, they are afraid you are invading their space if you even try to talk to them on the bus or the train, and manners have gone out of the window!
I'm a Scot, working in Berkshire, but have my base in Hull, where I still have my house. In official financial and Government surveys over the past 4-5 years, Hull is regarded as having the cheapest standard of living in the UK, with Manchester a close second. |

Lol, not in south Manchester it isn't! I think there's possibly a greater disparity in top and bottom end meaning the average figure is more meaningless in Manchester area. Clearly it's not London prices. |

I couldn't find the froyo place again so didn't get to try it. I wasn't paying proper attention on the first day.
The north does seem to adore its gravy. I hate the stuff so that might be reason enough to remain in the south.
