why is it .............

the one day I can have a long lie in, no trips or meetings or visits planned for the kids, not a lot of housework to do etc, the dratted smoke alarm battery decides it's gonna die ................... and from 5 am goes beep beep .... beep beep ................ and I can't get the footstool out (in one of the kids room who is still fast asleep!! - teenager) to reach to remove the offending battery ???

actually that's probably the most sensible solution to the problem ............... note to oneself, make sure there is a supply of cotton wool in the bedside cabinet ............  |

I once d*unkenly ended up dismantling - violently and permanently - our carbon monoxide alarm... Only to realise that the beeping was from the smoke alarm...  |

no its not the proper noise when you have a proper fire ....... its the irritating beep saying my battery is dying ... change me ............... the bit I don't get ........ if the battery is dying .... how come the bloody thing is still beeping 5.5 hours later ....... how long will it go on for and how much life is there in a battery before it decides to say it's dying ....... I need all the answers please ....... "

Our local fire fighters put in battery ones. If you are thinking or have a sercurity alarm you can have them put onto them. Advantage of these are if you have a autodialler fitted it lets you know. When my father burns the toast I phone and take the mickey. |
