"(This isn't meant to be a "Woah is me" topic)
Anyone got any tips on how to make new friends? Or just meet new people? Bear in mind I'm on the dole, so my options are limited.

Linger and talk with other dole office users, you start with one thing in common at least. |

Making friends don't cost anything....
Get out there do some voluntary work....take up a college course..it's free on benefits you learn something new and make new friends...don't spend your life on fab. |

Funny enough, the JC are sending me on a retail course. The thing is, I never asked to go on it"
You have to do it and you might actually like it...we all sometimes have to do things we never asked to do...I never asked to have a 100 cases dumped on my desk but I do it as its my bread and butter.... |

Yes I did say some. I got a leaflet through not long ago. Not for CC though, for the adult education place in town (near B and M) |

I'm kinda at the point where I'm not sure if your taking the monumental piss or not anymore.
You keep starting threads talking about the "hardships" of being on the dole for you.
Some people have to work.

Do a bit of voluntary work even if only a a couple of hours a week. Soup kitchens, old folks homes. There are plenty of people that would appreciate this and you,ll mix with equally considerate nice folk. |

Make friends. Chat politely. And if it's a no thanks take it that way. Not like just now with the man who I politely said no thanks but have fun to.
He replied with you too fatty and then blocked me!! Ha ha ha
It takes all sorts but smile through life and you'll make friends anywhere |

Op, allow me to tell you why the Jobcentre wanted to send you on a retail training course, it's a reality thing....retail is growing in many sectors and there are always retail jobs in most high streets if you look hard enough.......however
A Web design course at the age of 39?, that is not a reality thing.....there are many thousands of kids leaving college and university very well versed in web design, they already have all the knowledge and can't get a job with it as Web design positions are few and far between and usually require experience or a degree.
Be more realistic and less fanciful. |

I would suggest volunteering as long as it doesn't affect your benefit. Can you borrow a dog to walk people often stop and chat to fellow dog walkers.
When it comes to courses have you looked at Vision2learn? They offer courses.absolutely free.
I know how difficult it can be if you feel isolated, good luck and I hope job and friends come along soon. |

Get out and off fab!!
Lots to do that cost nothing!!
As lots have already said, maybe try some voluntary work, go for walks! Sign up for free courses!!
Can't believe your moaning about the dwp sending you on a free course
Surely anything that will help you find employment is good? |
