2 people.

Person one has a motorbike they are selling. I know they need the money to get a new bike because this one is total shit and breaks down allll the time!

Now normally that would be where the story ends. BUT

I've discovered today that person 2 has shown an interest in buying the bike which they will need to get to their job in a fairly remote location and will sell their present bike.

I've known both people for a long time but feel that person 2 is getting the raw end of the deal buying a bike that they have been told is fine when I know damn well it's not!

I don't want to stitch person one up but person 2 is gonna be in the shit with no way to get to work and £500 out of pocket for a shit bike!!

What would you do??

I considered that. But they won't care. They just want rid of the bike. They aren't bothered by honesty tbh.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

Ask them if they have had it checked, it's only sensible before a major purchase of second hand mechanical goods.

Be a good Samaritan and tell person 2, but ask them to be discrete and not mention your name.

I'd have to hint at person 2 that they were not getting value for money! Otherwise I'd feel to guilty hearing about when they broke down on way to work, which caused further problems!

Sorry, but hope that helps x

Keep out of it or maybe casually mention that anyone willing to part with £500 should get the bike checked over first nut I certainly wouldn't specifically tell them it's shit.

At the end of the day people need to look out for themselves as well as other people looking out for them.

Now I have a dilemma!

Asda shop has just been delivered, and I have discovered they have undercharged me by £23 (and I have the product) Do I tell them?

I'm thinking not!!

imagine your person 2... one day you probably will be, i know im a sucker for it but i'd speak to person 1 and ask them to reconsider what they're doing. Catch 22 on who will be most upset with you, but person 2 will see you as just watching as their job was put in risk.

Tough call there, best of luck.

Tell person 1 they need to be straight up about it.

Tell person 2 they need to exercise due dilligence.

If neither party listen to you, that's not your problem and you can sleep like a baby.

To me that removes the dilemma……

I’d mention in passing to person two that you have a suspicion the bike is being sold because it’s well past its serviceable best and could be unreliable without a great deal of money being spent on it to bring it up to the standard required to match their needs…

"Tell them straight it's a bucket of shit, there will always be another complete stranger to buy it"

This really, if you know P2 well then tell them as their job could depend on it.

If P1 moans tell them you would do the same for them if someone was going to sell them a bag of shit and you had prior knowledge of it.

Unless you are very discreet someone is not going to be that happy about it, if you say nothing and get found out the other person is not going to be happy.

I'm guessing if they are buying a bike for £500 they aren't going to have a lot of money to get an inspection done, or pay for repairs.

Secretly leave a note in number 2s letter box saying

"Do not buy the bike, it is fucked.

Signed

A friend"

Or sabotage it blatantly that no one will buy it.

Buying a duff motorbike isn't like buying a duff telly.

If a duff telly gives up at an inappropriate moment, it's unlikely anyone will die.

You can't say that about a motorbike.

Ooh well I think the situation may of sorted itself.

Just discovered person 2 went to see said bike about half hour ago and either they took someone along that knows about bikes or they know more than I gave them credit for as they have decided not to buy it!! Phew x

This then swings it.

Friend or not, family or not, I wouldn't abide letting them rip someone off.
