Taken from tonight's Last Leg....

Is a white woman, blacking up and pretending she was blind offensive?

I don't think it is. Remember Leigh Francis and his Michael Jackson?

Why is it offensive for her to do that yet not offensive that the disabled person in glee is played by an able bodied actor? Or Leonardo DiCaprio plating an autistic kid in who ate Gilbert grape?

Or is the offence because she was a white person playing a black person? Does race trump disability?

Why is that offensive? Did you hear her try to sing like Stevie Wonder?

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

I think the offence goes back to the bad old days of blackface where white performers would black up and present black people as figures of fun.

The Black and White Minstrel Show was a British light entertainment show that ran on BBC television from 1958 to 1978 and was a popular stage show. It was a weekly light entertainment and variety show presenting traditional American minstrel and country songs, as well as show and music hall numbers, usually performed in blackface, and with lavish costumes.

Michael Bates appeared in It Ain't Half Hot Mum from 1974 to 1977 as Rangi Ram. His role as Rangi Ram caused some controversy as it required Bates to be made-up with fake tan to look like an Indian, which he took to naturally as he was born in India and spoke Hindi fluently.
