...apparently long messages mean that a message has been copied and pasted.

I think that explains why i rarely get any responses. I may have to try one liners. Unchartered territory for me lol

I find two to three sentences is about right for a 1st message. Not too long, not too short

its almost as frustrating as the couples that put meets up inviting males but when you go to message them, you discover that they have blocked males.

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

I had a very very very long message last week. It was a detailed message all about what he was going to do to me. I think he mainly wrote it just to get himself off.

Didn't do a thing for me though.

You'll then get shot down for not making an effort.

I'm not saying you don't, but referring to things in a profile helps prove you've read it.

Keep going and best of luck.

If I get a long message and it starts with

' what I will do to you when we meet' or along those lines I delete

The copied and pasted messages are glaringly obvious... If I get a long message that's specific to me I'd usually reply, even if it's a no thanks. I will reply to any decent messages bit the 'hey you're hot, lets meet' ones usually just get deleted.

Me too - how can they assume that that will be what you want? They are total strangers.

Now from someone I have already played with - that's a whole different matter!

"You're a single guy, you can't win

Yep. Damned if you do, damned if you don't! My advice is don't ask for any as you'll get so many different answers in terms of what makes a good message.

Just remember: manners and humour go a long way and good luck.

They're only inviting males on their friends list or those who they've messaged before .... those contacts aren't blocked.

Had a classic Friday - some guy had sent a C&P message to two local young ladies! (although i'm sure several dozen others also received his kind offer!)

Sadly for him the two I'm referring to both happened to be in my car heading up the M5 at the time!

OP - do what you feel suits you and your personality! It's always the best course of action!

Thanks..and i think copy and paste messages would be even more hard work. Who has the time to select all the text, press copy and then paste?

..could just write a message which is easier lol.

I got one yesterday which not only copied the entire message but the title and an address clearly meant for someone else!

You just cannot win with some people, Do not want a one line message, but a long message has to me a cut and paste. Me I send what I feel like. I talk lot about their profile comment on their photos and what they like. If they do not like it oh well. I did my best.

I once kept receiving the same copy and paste job including a really bad joke.. the first time I talked to him, a week later I told him the punchline to his joke, a few days after that I told him he'd sent it me twice already and it still wasn't funny! He actually asked me to block him so he wouldn't keep sending it ... clearly no intention of changing his approach!

What's wrong with 'Hi, just read your profile and thought you sounded just what I looking for. Hopefully you will feel the same when you read mine. I attach a face pic so you can make an informed decision.'

That's how I tend to contact people.

It is so hard to get right.

Couples must be inundated with messages from single males and a couple or few times when sending a message I have been accused of cut and pasting, when I have not

..see now that, is nice and simple. But wouldnt that be copy and paste?

It's a matter of a few sentences - what would be the need for cut and paste?

Yes, but the type of c&p messges we don't like are the ones which start 'we meet at a bar, you in a tight black dress that pushes your breasts up....' yadda yadda yadda. Or the ones where they leave the wrong name in, or forget they're messaging a single woman after sending it to a couple.

Simplicity is best!

And to reiterate - I don't copy and paste. That's the general tone of one of my typical messages. If I cannot come up with a straight forward, simple message like that without copy and paste then there's no hope for me!

Actually just had a long copy and pasted one. I know it was because he sent me it a few weeks ago.... He said its ok because it's a good one! The only good one is him thinking that's gonna get him laid im afraid.

Long or short, just ideally something that's referenced they have read the profile, or what attracted them, a comment or a particular photo.
