I'm not one for scary films as I'm easily traumatised by them, but I've been talked into watching one .... I am armed with a cushion and Mr Smirnoff for courage

"Saw I walked out in saw 3 never watched any of them after that I hate scary films "
Watched about 3 minutes of a saw film last sat , had to turn it off not because it scared me as such but more because I can't actually believe someone thought up what they could do to another human. |

"I'm watching paranormal activity
Is that the one that's like a home movie?
Yes that's the one
I think everyone's being brave. I wouldn't watch it again "
I must admit I watch the first and the 2nd one often, only because they send me to sleep |

Totally agree...Saw is full of gore and blood and could easily watch that again.
On the other hand, if it was a paranormal movie it scares the living daylights out of me so I wouldn't even try! |

I'm one of the rare believers of the whole paranormal thing...so I couldn't watch that, unless I intended on staying awake for the next three weeks! |

Well I'm feeling pretty freaked out right now!!! My hairs have a bloody hard on! I'm having hot flushes and having a cat jumping about chasing flies really isn't helping!!!
I'm consulting Mr Smirnoff for further advice |

Absolutely love em, although I don't think you can beat the old ones. Some remakes are ok, but most are shite..
Not into the blood n gore ones unless they have a good story line to em.. |

Another fan of oldies but goodies here, and I'm quite into serial killers too, if its true that's scarier! Gore doesn't scare me find gore fests boring but a good psychological thriller or supernatural stuff done well I enjoy.
Must admit I love the spoofing done by scream and final destination franchises.
Paranormal activities are pish |

I saw The Conjuring last night and had to sleep with the landing light on.
I'm not scared by mad people running around with machetes or torture type films, though I have to look through my fingers at them. But ghost films really scare me. And my house is over 100 years old so I get scared that ghosts will come out.
The thing that is the most scary of all is your own imagination. I've been scared many times from reading a book. I have an imaginative mind and when I watch certain films i can't stop thinking about them afterwards. |

I have been and forever will be terrified by Nightmare on elm street. I was allowed to watch it when I was 7 by a babysitter, it was number 3 and at the end the dolls house light flash on and off, and when I went to bed, traumatised I should add, my bedroom light started flashing on and off. I was convinced Freddy was in my room, slept in my brothers bed for months haha |

I loved watching stuff with my Mum from probably 7/8. Most memorable being like a few have suggested, The Entity, Salems Lot, Amityville, N-O-E-S, Exorcist.
Few others that were very good, The Changeling, The Brood, The Burning, I Spit On Your Grave.
I enjoyed SAW 1 but went off the sequels and other films like that. |

Fright Night is great. I went to see that film in the 80s with my friends and fell in lust with Chris Sarendon. I also like the music, especially those tracks by Brad Fiedel. It's one of my favourite vampire movies, along with From Dusk til Dawn |

"The Conjuring we have to see, good ratings to from imdb. An impressive rare 8/10.
Nicole Kidmans,Pete Postlethwaites-The Others was an all time fave."
watched the conjuring last nite..
its good but well overhyped in my opinion
the 60s look is very authentic, well acted and has some good moments...however its a shame as it has nothing really to do with the scary doll that u think would have a central role in the film |

The new breed of horror films are rubbish, predictable and full of over the top gore etc. Havent seen a decent scary film in god knows how long lol !!!
The 80's produced some of the best horror films including....
American werewolf in London
Hellraiser
Poltergeist
The Thing
Original Romero zombie movies
From beyond
Phantasm
To name a few |

It's like they've taken lots of scary themes and thrown them all together, scary doll to replicate Chuckie in Childs play, demonic possession and some ghostly paranormal activity.
It seems a bit mixed up but it has lots of jump scary moments |

Poltergeist is one of my fave films ever. The first half is the best - kirchen chairs stacking themselves, talking to the tv etc.
Paranormal activities are good although they hsve stretched it out too far into 4 films. Its the watching....waiting...watching....did something move...? that I like. In the second where she's on the sofa and a shadow passes over her....
I know some don't rate it but the Daniel Radcliffe Woman In Black had a good spooky feel to it.
For 'unsettling' rather than scary, it's hard to beat The Omen |

I'm afraid we found paranormal 1 laughable, especially the scene where she's dragged out of bed lol
Paranormal 2 was just boring, so we gave up then
We love horror films right from the 1930s hammer stuff through to 1950s sic Fi horrors through to 70s/80s slasher video nasty gore up to present day but have ever been scared?
No! As it's just a film lol |
