Have so far spent this week banging my head against a technical fault caused by 20+ years of people bodging systems together in order to keep them running at the expense of all else.

Am mentally numb from looking at diagrams all day and running the same test with the same result. It defies all the logical faultfinding techniques I've been using since I was 17.

Im at the point now where the fault could have a bright neon flashing sign saying "here is the problem" with a big fucking arrow, and I still couldn't see it as I'm looking too hard.

The project manager is sending someone else up to help and I just KNOW he will walk up to it and say "here it is!" as that will make me look like an absolute cunt, and then I will kill him.

I'd drink heavily but I'd pass out after a pint.

It's not a rant, I don't want sympathy, I just needed to write it down somewhere before I go insane.

It's not even worth the overtime it's that bad. :-/

All the systems where I work are built on a shoe string, bodged and cobbled together, with so many add ons it's a miracle they work .....

Trying to find anything.in the databases is like looking for a needle in a haystack

I feel your pain

Never a good feeling when you are constantly banging your head against a brick wall and you have tried everything! Glad to hear you have had a better day though.
