"... how much below the asking price did you pay?
"
About £500 on the first house. Which constituted about a hefty 10% of the full asking price
Then we paid the full asking price for this one .... the cost of which wouldn't buy a car now .... I couldn't afford this house if I was buying now. Lunacy. |

I think we offered asking price. It was a bargain and we kept having houses in our price bracket get snapped up by landlords wanting to buy and let it out. We viewed it the day after it went on the market and offered full. |

I’ve never sold a house for less than my asking price and over the years I’ve sold quite a few….!
But I may have to reduce my price this time, just to get it sold, as everyone who offered me the asking price is stuck in a chain and unable to proceed….!.
The property I’m hoping to buy next has already been reduced 30k by the vendor so I’m not sure if they will be willing to take any less once I’m in a position to make a firm offer… |

In my personal experience of buying it all depends on the interest in the property concerned, if there is not a lot of interest then 5% seems to be acceptable, of course if you are buying a property in an area that has ultra low appeal or is run down then you can offer far less.
I'm guessing though you are talking about Devon Ben?, in which case I'd stick to the 5% area as the county is one of the fastest in the country for house sales. |
