Inspired by another topic....

What did you do in the past, that the kids of today wont believe....

When I was a kid, I used to throw asbestos sheets onto bonfires.... only because it popped

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I once told my daughter that we didn't have mobile phones, we didn't have 100s of TV channels, and the TV shut off at midnight. I don't think she believed me.

Lancashire

Spend the summer holidays outside playing real football and fishing

Knock on Hundreds of strangers doors collecting bonfire wood . Then spent weeks "guarding the bonfire" we had built ourselves

Went carol singing

Hid from the local beat copper out of fear and respect ( when drinking cider)

Collected panini football stickers

Took "guess who"and "cluedo" into school on last day of term

Collected bottles and took them to the shop to claim the 10p

Bought cola bottles for a penny

Infact had penny chews !!!!!!

Need more ? I got loads!!

I told my kids (5 & 6) about people smoking on planes and on the bus and in restaurants. They were appalled lol. When I was a kid both my parents smoked and I remember there being an ashtray on the coffee table and them both smoking away in the living room. Really hard to imagine that now, and my mum is one of those terrible militant ex-smokers lol

A friend of my mums, had a telly that she put 50p's in to. I was always amazed when it went off and she had to hunt for coins.

Imagine that nowadays

Although my TV has been unplugged for months....it would be a good piggy bank :D

I remember when "bin men" were bin men

They would climb your wall and search for your bin if you had forgot to put it out

Steel bins with a lid

Hunch it over their shoulder and physically throw it in the wagon !

Not like the ones today !!!
