I used the street level facility when my daughter was flat hunting, so we could see the area, shops facilities etc. As she doesn't drive it's was quite good for her to 'see' where she would be walking.
I've also used it to get my bearings before attending socials for the route to take from the hotel. xx |

"I'll be honest, I have no idea how to get the street view, I googled my home address but it doesn't look right on the map. "
Clicking on the satelite tab helps |

Never used it for meets, other than to check the route, but I can see how it would be handy to see if they live in Beirut on Sea.
I'll be geeky now, and admit I've a few 3d models that have been added to Google Earth lol

"Do any of you ever have a look at the satellite view on Google map... of the place/house you are going to meet someone?"
Thanks for the tip, great suggestion this now means we can be picky with potential meets
I think we'll add a comment to our profile "Should garage doors or mattresses be on show via Google maps, don't bother contacting us" lol |

Awww that’s not very subtle and they may be nice people…. how about…."If your neighbourhood looks like an episode of 'scrap heap challenge', you may wish to invite us to a hotel meet" |

I only look at my own house on Google Sat View.
Like others have said it needs updating.
The steps up to our swimming pool extend to the orchard now and have done for the past three years.
Also the horses paddock has been enlarged to allow the odd local Gymkhana to take place in Summer.
It's a bastard cos i've had to lose the parking space for one of the cars and Oxfam wanted to charge me for taking it as a donation - Twats ! |

I wonder if there is someone somewhere wishing the view of their back garden wasn’t 6 years old… because of the hole in the lawn and body sized object wrapped in blue tarpaulin at the bottom of it |

"Oh, and the maps on bing.com have ariel shots of most the uk, that give you a birds eye view from four directions

Arc"
We prefer this one too,you can view all sides of the target property and it seems a lot more up to date than google maps.
We bet the burglers etc love these features too.
