Oh .. on my school run this morning there was a really big storm.. heard a massive noise followed by a really loud clap of thunder..

going to school and have to pull over for a fire engine... Noticed a house with a massive hole in the roof and flames shooting out...

By time I've come back from school run it's spread to the houses either side and 4 engines in attendance...

First thing my children said was... See told you we should be scared... I just hope everyone at the houses was okay though.

Scary to see it..

It's really loud if you're close to it. I've been about 100 meters of a lightning strike and don't think I've ever heard anything quite as loud as that. Was in the middle of the night and hit a house just up the road, don't think I've ever got out of bed that quickly before or since. I even looked in the loft to see if it was still there.

We've had pretty bad thunder, its shaking the house and has cut off the virgin tv box. Feel sorry for my puppy though, first storm he's seen and I don't think he's a fan! Lol

I've just talked to a lady whose house is next to the one that got hit... Looks like no one was hurt... But not looking good for the houses.. but as she says they can be replaced...

She has left and come down to my neighbours as all the watches and people taking photos are upsetting her...

Manchester Piccadilly train station was hit by a lightening strike this morning too which has affected the signals and had been causing train delays all over nw England.

God really does need to improve his aim though as 2 lightening strikes and he hits a house and a train station when the request was to destroy Old Trafford, the home of the Red Devils.

3 Years ago a lightning bolt hit the telegraph pole next to my home, burnt out the phone jack on the wall and destroyed the router and my laptop as it was connected to the router by a cable...now that was loud. Had the same happen about 10 years ago, again destroyed the modem in my computer, plugged in to the phoneline on dial up back then. Hundreds of people here had no phoneline for 3 weeks and dozens of computers ruined. The B&B owners did well though with all BT Engineers brought into the area to fix all the lines. That strike was so loud it woke me from my sleep and I thought a plane was crashing on top of my home, I was so terrified I couldn't move!

Quick look at online news and there have been at least 4 houses set on fire by lightning strikes today!

Just been back down past... Can't see anything as road is closed off... Still 4 engines there.. an ambulance is there but I believe you have to have with so many firemen on site..

oh and glad I hadn't left my car parked on other side of road as my neighbours car has a branch through the widescreen. And it's still thundering here.

Worse than being struck by lightning, your kids are still in school?
