I don't think there is a porn ban! From what I gathered yesterday they are, by default, on new Internet accounts filtering searches.
You can still request them not to filter your results.
I heard talk they are making any porn depicting rape - illegal too. Which, while I sympathise with the intent, think its completely unworkable.
They are also banning child porn searches - I.e. instead of you getting results and blocking them, you won't even get the results. This is a little more workable but it won't stop them.
What I'm worried about is that, while child abuse is abhorrent, to me, the answer is stopping it before it happens and spending money on catching the people hosting it and creating it / abducting children in the first place!
As this is such an emotive subject, everyone will applaud the government and service providers, however when you ignore the subject content what your actually witnessing is the start of government derived censorship of the Internet.
Other countries have this - you can I only see "pro-government" web pages etc.
I for one like living in a country with freedom of speech and expression. Once this presidence has been set... Well, what next?

As politicians do these days, it sounds like Cameron is running vague ill thought out ideas by the masses first and seeing if it is a vote affecting hot potato. If its too hot to handle then he can always say "I have moral high ground, I wanted this implemented but others wont back me up.
He was also proposing banning simulated rape images. When does a rough sex image begin to look like simulated rape? And if it is simulated then isnt it between consenting adults? |

Noones banning porn, you simply have to opt in....bit like the old days as a teenager sneaking into the newsagents to buy fiesta whilst trying to look cool and unflustered |
