"Compare with past generations, are they more violent, lazy, more drug takers and alcohol. Or is this just a phalicy created by the media. Do the youth have an easier or harder time of things"

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
I think we have the most emotionally articulate young people ever but with that comes other issues. Such as thinking about mental wellbeing much earlier with young people than ever before.
They are faced with more information and exposed to so many outside influences now that it's a lot to process. But they are still young and vulnerable.
I think the press and government don't help by demonising and criminalising children and young people for being childish and young.
Parents that haven't experienced adequate parenting and/or being self absorbed don't help.
However, on the whole, I have been meeting some really remarkable, interesting, head screwed on, ambitious and caring young people over the last few months and I have hope for them all that they will see us right. |

I want to say that we had it easier 'back in the days when I was a lass' but I think I was just sheltered. A lot of kids had it really crap.
So I think it's probably the same, just different. We didn't have quite as much pressure to look a certain way back then. Flares were fashionable ffs.
No mobile phones etc to keep up with the latest model. But I did want a Speak n Spell and we couldn't afford it. |

I'd say its entirely statistical. There are more people around to my understanding.More people, more bad traits.Magnify that with automation, and u have unemployment. The jobs that are here now, wont be lasting for 10/20 years.A general apathy for looking ahead to life has been apparent in our generations, distracting ourselves(quite rightly) with other things..so is it any surprise its rubbed off on todays teenagers? |

Plenty of things I deplore today, mainly too much too young and not being allowed to be children long enough.
However, a bit of googling will turn up historical comments deriding the 'youf of today', certainly every generation has done it from the Romans up to today.
After all, with our rose tinted glasses firmly in place, were we not all perfect children and teenagers?
I know I wasn't |
