Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I can't believe they have a random gynaecologist telling people about what she might possibly be doing during labour! That's just daft.

I do hope the birth goes well and I'm sure she's grateful to be in an air conditioned hospital on such a hot day.

Evie, if the baby arrives on your birthday of course they will name it after you as a fitting honour to your day.

Rather than a formal announcement on the steps of the hospital, apparently the first public indication the baby has been born will be by way of a small notice being hung from the palace gates….

£5000 per night suite..top gynecologists..her own blood group supply in case of complications..not exactly poor girl!

Of course there is no need to be nasty, and of course like any other mother giving birth today we would hope all goes well, but not everyone is in thrall to brand Windsor, and as far as I'm aware we live in a democracy and therefore entitled to voice a valid opinion on a thread, or are certain threads to be ring fenced?

I just think its about showing some tolerance to allow others to enjoy a none controversial thread aimed at celebrating the birth of a child without making it into something that could easily expressed in another thread dedicated to the views and opinions of people who don’t wish to enjoying the happy side of this event….

So she is having a baby - wow. Don't know them at all so why get excited. As far as I can see will be another waste of space for the british public to keep in luxury for the rest of its life - never having to worry about bills or finding a job - and "normal" people get excited about this ?? Will it actually make the slightest difference to your or my life - NO - just another kid to be kept by the taxpayer

As all your opinions, eloquent and fair, but, rightly or wrongly the birth has like all Royal 'events' a political dimension to it..Kensington Palace their 57 roomed home, and where the new baby will eventually live, has recently had a million pound refit. Some of it funded by the fabulously rich Prince Charles, and some by the taxpayer.

Now you, and others, might argue it's money well spent, but others won't, and will feel entitled to voice an opinion on the addition to a long line of, what they consider, privileged parasites without being judged as heartless.

I bet by the end of the day at least 60% of new born's are going to be kept by the tax payer, and if Catherine will do as she says about being a hands on mum, then this could be the chance of royalty of changing there old fashioned ways. After all by raising a Blue or Pink flag above Buckingham palace in stead of the Union Jack is the first big change in making history !!

One of my friends struggled to have one after a few miscarriages. Her daughter is a healthy adult thank god, then in her 40's she fell pregnant again, sadly was ectopic, else she would have 2, so yes babies are miracles and should be wanted and loved.

I waited 6yrs before i was able to have my son, which was followed by an ectopic in which i lost twins. Unfortunately the marriage broke down and i went on to have two girls with my second husband... One has learning difficulties and the other is severely disabled, and when i kicked him out I couldn't help thinking that there was a dodgy gene there somewhere. But that's another thread.. At the end of the day I love them all the same and wouldn't want to change them either.

Well put fella our taxes to help the royals continue to bleed us dry of what little money we have or so we are told.

Happy for them as parents to be but as for the royal side of things they should say we will survive on military pay and not fleece you all. Somehow cant see that happening.

"All this 'women give birth every day' crap annoys me. Yes they do but they didn't marry a Prince and they didn't plop out the third in line to the throne. Get over it!!! "

And aside from all that, it's her first baby. She's still a person and she has hopes and dreams for her little one same as anyone else. It's hard enough without having the whole world watching your every move. I hope she and the baby and the family are all doing ok. And that they get to spend some private time together to enjoy the moment.

No but by default she has given up all of her freedom. She is going to be judged on every action she takes, everything she wears, every decision she makes. By the world press and millions of people. Most new parents don't have to deal with that.

She has indeed given up much of her freedom but, as I said, she wasn't held at gunpoint whilst she did so.

Some might argue that, having seen what befell the Spencer and Ferguson baby machines, she ought to have anticipated what came her way.

If it's a boy the Spencer tradition could be maintained by calling him Frank.

I think she did and prepared as well as she could for it. They actually look like they love each other, in a way his parents never did. Informed choice doesn't mean that you lose all human emotions though. Let alone those feelings that flood you when pregnant and after you give birth.

I can’t get over some of the contemptuous bile I’ve whiteness being spoken today in relation to an innocent child thats about to be born into this world. Where it appears some people will stoop so low as to range hatred towards it before its had a chance to even breath…

Regardless of anyones feeling about the childs royal conection a newborn child doesn't deserve to be vilified because of its ancestry....

the only part of the whole fiasco I object to is the media hype and us having the event rammed down our throats at every opportunity they and the never ending stream of experts they dredge up to enlighten us...And now some insight into Royal Babyness from a one time next door neighbour of a nanny who once applied for the job of Prince Harry's nanny (but didn't get the job)...It's a load of Media tosh.

its really changed my views about some people for the worse..

everyone is expected to feel bad when celebs or soldiers get killed etc yet some people find it so hard to rejoice in a happy occasion. A baby who is pure and innocent who because of DNA will never be 'normal'

The chances are this child will become king or queen in my lifetime and therefore a part of our countries history and legacy.

"And all this 'another one for us to keep' if you don't like supporting the royal family move to a country that doesn't have one although consider where the pay for premiere's and presidents ans chieftains come from. Not from thin air does it? "

Republicanism has a long and chequered role in the fabric of British politics, and long may it continue..checks and balances!!..the notion that one is not necessarily in thrall to the Windsors means you should move to another country is clearly ridiculous..think about it Evie..dissenters in Russia and China were exterminated..please respect the idea that people might have a different perspective than you..disagreement with them is your privilege and right, but please don't assume they love this country less than you do.

The whole fascination with it doesn't sit well with me. The media are camped outside the hospital, and many news channels have a live feed up updates. Updates of what exactly? Fanny updates? How far she's dilated? I think it's quite sick to be honest. She is still a woman in labour and a first time mum - both very stressful occasions, albeit happy at the end. What if something terrible went wrong? Nothing should have been reported until the baby was born and the worldwide media shouldn't be allowed to camp outside the hospital like a pack of vultures. I know they're the royal family and all, and a new baby is a happy occasion, but seriously, get a grip. I know she has chosen to live this lifestyle in the public eye, but some things should remain out of the public eye, for the time being anyway.

Rant over.

Still part of history..

i feel proud to be British, watching their wedding, awaiting the news of their first baby. Its current for me and its relivant for now..

In years down the line id like to be able to sit with my daughter and hopefully her children and tell stories of the times we rejoiced and celebrated the diamond jubilee, the 2012 Olympics, the wedding of the future king to Kathrine..

for those who dont care there's wikipedia or whatever it will be in 50/60yrs time. But im sure we all enjoy stories of the wars our grandparents passed on. So im starting my memory bank now

yeah again I agree with you Ted……

Although I suspect some of the people that presently aim their anger at the very existence of a Royal family might be equally critical of anyone who dared to abandon that lifestyle any point after they’d reached an age where they could make decision on their own behalf….

I imagine some anti royalist might declare such an action as a waste of taxpayers money and an insult to the British public….

But hey,,,,, that’s just me musing with my own thoughts and obviously has no base intended to cause offence to or inflame anti royalists feelings.....

I'm welling up with emotion...and I'm feeling a song coming on.....

.

Come-on sing-sing-or-show-your-ring

.

Altogether now......

.

From the day we arrive on the planet

And blinking, step into the sun

There's more to be seen than can ever be seen

More to do than can ever be done

.

.

Some say eat or be eaten

Some say live and let live

But all are agreed as they join the stampede

You should never take more than you give

.

.

In the circle of life

It's the wheel of fortune

It's the leap of faith

It's the band of hope

Till we find our place

On the path unwinding

In the circle, the circle of life

.

.

Some of us fall by the wayside

And some of us soar to the stars

And some of us sail through our troubles

And some have to live with the scars

.

.

There's far too much to take in here

More to find than can ever be found

But the sun rolling high through the sapphire sky

Keeps great and small on the endless round

.

.

In the circle of life....the circle of life ........

"It's a boy!! And he's a cancer like William

He'll probably be a drain on society but a cancer? Really?

Lol it's the star sign! Names I reckon spencer Philip then Kate's dads nane

But if he's called Spencer I shall stand naked in Trafalgar Square with pigeon feed on my knob. Not a chance of that.

Well it's classic but modern still demure for royal and it's his mums maiden name no doubt if was girl middle nane be Diana. "

I can see Diana if it was a girl but Spencer is a bit of a chavie name now.

It's only way gets Diana's name in and is nicer nane than boring old fashioned names like Charles n Edward

Prince Philip is not known as King Philip though. She's still be known as the Duchess of...Queen Consort.

I LOVE that!! Good for them. I'm really happy they got to spend the first few hours together like that, just a normal family.

Queen Consort

What does that mean?? "

It means she's not technically a Queen (like Chas's mum), but is married to a King. Technically all Queens married to Kings are Queen Consorts as they have no power, whereas our Queen, and the first Elizabeth and Victoria are/were Queens with the power.

What about taking Diana's middle name, Francis the male version of Frances

I bet they're glad the Home Secretary wasn't required to be in the room to confirm the birth.

The husband of the Queen will never be known as King. A King overpowers a Queen and since she was the previous King's daughter then she is more powerful than him.

Well it was good enough for a saint and you don't hear him being called Frankie. Was thinking of more for a middle name
