Saw him on TV a couple of years back for the first time in ages, and he didn't look too good then. Gave the impression he'd had a stroke or something which left similar visible effects.

Such a shame - highly talented guy, and not just on 'Not the nine o'clock news' or 'Alas Smith and Jones' either.

Sixty is no age...

According to Wiki he was addicted to Nurofen which he took to ease the pain from gout. He was taking 50 a day. Allegedly, this gave him a stomach ulcer which bought on more health problems.

was great playing Cyril Ash in Minder as a dodgy record producer who's star had gorn and died while at no1 in the charts,cue arthur and terry giving Cyril the run around, great actor Mel was
