Just a suggestion,,,, but while you make another batch,
Could you not crush the crumbled cookies, then mix them with melted butter, roll out the mix and cut into shapes, then allow them to set in the fridge....! |

"Its got 9oz of butter in it already, 1/2 lb of flour! But only one egg (I followed the recipe to the letter!) Would it be worth trying another egg?"
No milk first! |

Will try some milk, the dough seems quite wet already. The recipe called for putting it in the fridge for an hour... |

A little dash and roll it again will help hold the consistency. Good luck |

If its sticky add a bit of flour bit by bit....you used too much butter and no milk by the sounds of it....9oz of butter is a lot |

That's what I thought but I followed a recipe in the hope that it would work! I'll put some more flour in and add some milk. There was more butter than flour which seemed a bit ridiculous |

The milk will bind it and hence I said lots of flour but not to the mix, on the board hun and rolling pin. |

Without the full recipe it's hard to say what's gone wrong.. it does sound very butter heavy though.
I'd probably not mess with what you have left, bake it off in a tin as a base for a cheesecake. You can freeze it till you need it so no waste |
