This time of year all the children get their school reports and most get a good pat on the back for their achievements.
As you all know my 14yr old daughter is severely disabled and this year she leaves the school side of her school to go on to the college side.
Today must have been one of the proudest moments of my life when she was given the "Best Achiever for her class" There were four of them in all, one for each class in Key Stage Three.
The award was presented to us by the 100m Para-Olympian for Team GB "Anne Wafula Strike"
It really was an amazing moment one that I could never have imagined.
Both her sister and myself were near to tears.....

Thank you all so much, it's been very hard to get to this point. It makes all the sleepless nights, getting hit and slapped and disinfecting walls down after dinner and at 2am when other things are happening, crying when everyone else is asleep.
All very worth while, I am hoping that she will continue as she has done in the last couple of years xx Ruby |

Fantastic news well done to your daughter and well done to your self for what must have been a hard but fantastic upbringing. If only more parents were like yourselves, world would be a better place |

First of all may I say I've never produced children for which I'm glad n I have no affinity with them really either. In fact I'm rather oblivious of their presence - however even a hard nut like me was moved by your story n as well as her tremendous achievement it's a big pat on the back to u (I'll spare u the horror of a congratulatory kiss) cos there must have been innumerable sleepless nights when panic set in n u thort 'how will all this turn out good ' anyway here u r at a moment of success! No doubt there will b further troubles ahead for u all but I hope u can all bask for a while in the current glory xx |
