If it's a displaced filling or other locatable gap, my dentist recommends sugar free gum or get this, blue tack, to put a temporary stopper in.
It actually works. |

Do you have an emergency doctor in your area? Call them and ask for some serious painkillers. I had to do that once. I was ready to rip my own head off I was in so much pain.
Sending hugs. x |

Nottingham/and everywhere my location says i am ;) |
I've just had a wisdom tooth out after 2 years of on off pain.. Stagger the pills.
Co-codamol, and get some cuprophen plus from tesco. It's ibuprofen and codeine. Take the co-codamol then an hour later the cuprophen.
Takes the edge off long enough for a couple hours kip |

"Don't ask me, the last time I had serious tooth ache (over 10 years ago) I self prescribed a bottle of vodka, and had a bath full of vomit covered bedding to contend with the next morning."
Cant help but chuckle at the self prescription xx |

Do you know exactly the cause? I once had a bad toothache and i went to the dentist. He did some x-rays and told me nothing was wrong with my teeth. Turned out it was a sinus infection and apparently your sinuses can cause pain in you teeth. Took clartin and it cleared right up. |

Few ideas that all work but in different situations, if you have a gas fire then heat your face up, or as mentioned above take sips of water and pressure it on the offending tooth. I always carry amoxycillin in my meds tub, and tramadol, which is lethal stuff. Most painkillers wont work on a toothache unless they are prescribed, but everyone is different.
I feel for you OP, its not nice and i hope you get some kip |

Im on a set of self prescribed anadin extra, panadol, parace plus and ibpro for any inflammation (obviously taking in moderation so I dont over do it lol) last time it was this bad I was heavily preg and couldnt take my usual meds for it. I have a lingually impacted, wisdom tooth pushing on a nerve, its roots are also bent backward along my jaw.
In the end I managed to find some diclofenac in the medicine drawer and got about 4 hours
Thanks everybody xx |

DO NOT DO THIS!
Both of these medications contain codeine and by taking them as suggested you would be double dosing!
Co-codamol is paracetamol and codeine, you can combine it with ibuprofen but not with one that also has codeine in. |

The only things that give me a any relief from the pain of tooth ache are either dihydrociene along with paracetemol and ibruprofen OR tramadol with paracetemol and ibruprofen.
These were prescribed by the dentist on various occasiona and also the hospital on another occasion
