I've been tasked with watering the garden as my dad is away but I have to go out soon. It's still blistering hot. Should I water it now or will that burn the plants or leave till tomorrow morning when it might be cooler? |

They will be fine, I water mine around this time on occasions if I am going out. They still look lovely. |

"Doesn't it ever rain on scorching hot days? I seem to remember the odd short, sharp thunder shower. The the sun is back to scorching. Nature isn't worried about it."

In theory water early and late - not in the heat of the day.
Firstly the water droplets can have a magnifying effect on the sun and cause leaf scorch.
Secondly the plant will open it's pores and may loose some of the water you're adding.
However, I work at a Garden Centre and all the watering is done in the main part of the day and seems to cause little problem. Bottom water if possible, as someone said above, on the soil round the plant not on the leaves.
So water now. |
