So is there anything on t v worth watching,,? Or should I stick to the forums and post irreverent nonsense,?

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

You don't have any batteries in the house at all? I can't imagine that.

Get up and press the channels on the television?

It's Apprentice night at 9 and 10 (BBC2).

Have you tried turning it off and on again? That's the standard technical advice for everything.

Nothing for it but to choose one of two options:

a) go out and get some batteries

b) give up and stick to posting nonsense on here.

Open the cover on the remote, and roll the batteries around,or take them out and put them back in again.I know it sounds mad,but its happened to me a few times.

Ask your girls how to do it.

This, works every time and if you keep doing it your batteries will last a few more weeks!

Hull

Everything comes in two's, just like batteries!

Like two legs, which you use to walk across to the TV

Like two eyes to view the buttons on the TV

Like two hands with fingers to press the buttons manually!

Go, on, try it!

There is an alternative to mechanical options.
