Blimey! That's a big win to this day and thirty years ago would have been a King's ransom

On a day out visiting a local county show, I paid my pound to enter a dice throwing challenge where you were given 6 dice to throw in any permutation upto a maximum of three separate throws,,

The idea being if you could manage to achieve 6 x 6's you would win a brand new car……

On my first throw of all six dice, I scored actually scored 5x6’s so I was then left with two rolls of one dice to score one more six and the car was mine……

I saw a parent win a car via throwing six sixes at my school summer fete in the 80's without any option re extra throws to get the required six sixes.

Have just worked out the odds as being 1 in 46,656

Oop's I should add,,,,, I didn't manage to score another six,,,, so I never won the car,,,, but they did give me a free go....which I obviously never won with either....

So close and yet so far!!! sigh,,,,

Yeah it was one of those real sphincter twitching moments for me.......

But the bloke running the stall looked mightily relieved when I failed, so I guess his poop-shute was twitching a bit too.....

I believe that they are all operated via an insurance policy in the event of it being won .

Having said that once you'd won the car game over re the fundraising on the stall.

I won two tickets to Superbowl XXll in San Diego in January 1988. It included flights to L.A. 5 nights accommodation and transfers to San Diego.

I couldn't take it due to work commitments but managed to settle for £400 after lots of haggling.

Another competition for a Mercedes A140....was whittled down to ten people. We picked a car key each and stood in a line to try the door...I was last. Hopes raised when there were only two remaining. The person before me tried and the door didn't open. Couldn't believe my luck and stepped forward to claim my prize....the door wouldn't open.

The previous person stepped forward again and this time the door opened. Never felt do gutted...anyway got the use of an A140 for a weekend as runner-up.

That's a very interesting tale and so frustrating re the opening car door faux pas.

Certainly was...and a little embarrassing as it was a public event at Brighton Marina....fortunately I'm not one to get carried away so just a bit of bruised pride.
