I'm a lodger , have been here over a year now. Gave no references paid nothing up front and my landlady has said she doesn't want me to leave. In short you need a lodger just like me |

I'm a fairly new landlady of a house I couldn't sell so had to rent it.
In hindsight I would have googled the names of the tenants.
Only recently discovered one is bankrupt and the other has two names, the one given to me shows a court paper appealing against a prison sentence for assault, burglary and generally being a nasty person
I wish I was kidding |

We have been renting rooms for 4 years now. We have a uni near us so we advertise there and get some lovely students. Also advertise on another site which can send you if you are interested. We always get a deposit and 4 weeks rent in advance and make sure you have a signed contract and a rent book. Have been quite lucky and only ever had 2 lodgers that were a pain and we had to ask to leave. Pm us if you need to ask anything |

Ive got too lodgers with me. Both are friends of mine so had no trouble with mine. But like someone said above. Very difficult to get your own time when people are coming in and out all the time |

"I have a lodger (sometimes two).
Make sure they always pay a weeks rent in advance.
Setback? Can't meet fabsters at mine "
This- although I get mine via a friends company who do skills exchanges with other companies, so I have a private arrangement and know who is coming in advance.
My sister has quite a few houses and always does comprehensive checks (as well as using a rental service who she negotiated with on commission).
Make sure you specifically prohibit people running any sort of business from the house- she had a nightmare with that before when she got her first properties |

For a long while the elderly lady next door to me always had a lodger and it was always a police officer.
Never any trouble, always paid rent on time, local neds all knew the house was 'off limits' etc. |
