Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum |
Born in Reading, moved to Yorkshire when I was 3. Only just getting accepted now.
I've picked up some things from Yorkshire though. The accent and their excellent way with money. |

First generation immigrant here, originated from the Far East, came here to study in 1979, liked it so much I decided to call this country my home.
Had homes in London, Norfolk and now Wiltshire.
When asked I would say I am from London, as that's where I had my home for the longest.

Proud to be from Yorkshire foremost and the rest follows a long way behind. Maybe its because we come from gods own county and in general we are proud in Yorkshire to come from here in general. |

Had this conversation in the cricket club earlier in relation to Andy Murray. One of the members said he'd be British if he won and Scottish if he lost.
I, by the way, am another who is Yorkshire first and British second - the patriotism is indoctrination early in this county! |

I'm British. I have very little affinity for my county, I have a little for my home city.
This would be a very different debate in Spain which is very regionalised.
I notice that most "Londoners" no longer live there. Not trying to be provocative, just thought it was an interesting point. |

It's probably got a lot to do with many Londoners making their money working in the Capital, then moving out make the most of it's high value in cheaper areas. |

According to the research my uncle did, we're proper old english with a hint of paddy.
the main core of the family has been midlands based for as far back as he's been able to trace which is about 200yrs+
Me- i'm just me- the black sheep, odd ball, unique, do what i want member of the family- not arsed about the country, mildly amused by the history and ways of the YamYam but still just me |

I am a Londoner. It has taken me 12 years of living here to be able to feel I can call myself that. However I was born and raised in Australia and have an Irish passport. I think this means I am culturally confused. |

Arse End of the Universe, Cumbria |
Right you Yorkshire lot, don't care what Wiki says, Cumbria is God's own county!
To answer the OP, English or British first (depends on my mood) often closely followed by "No, it's not a Geordie accent, I'm a sheepshagger from Cumbria" |

I wouldn't say i'm proud of my nationality, its not something you have any say over so what's there t be proud of? we are who we are, for me pride is something you work for you don't work for where you was born |

"I am proud to be an English woman who is proud to be born in Leicestershire.
I never ever call my self British."
Why do you never call yourself British? |

It's on your passport, you are British....If you travel abroad and have a serious problem you visit the British consulate, not the English consulate, nor the Leicestershire consulate.
I find this reluctance to be seen as British by some to be laughable... |
