Many people have expressed support for the opt-out requirement on another thread, and somehow conflate it with the needs of sick children.
So let me turn this around a bit -
How would you feel if there was another scheme that compulsorily euthanased retired people in order to provide organs for children.
I know it isn't what is being proposed, but I just want a few viewpoints - and you can't dress it up with "I'd hope . . . " - you have to choose between your parents and a kid at the other end of the country. |

Why just stop at pensioners? we could re-introduce the death penalty for certain crimes and harvest organs from prisoners as they did in China.
Personally I think the OP's had a brain fart an wish them a speedy recovery. |

I suspect there's quite a few old folks out there who'd gladly accept euthanasia and organ donation if a child were the guaranteed recipient, that the operation was a guaranteed success and that the increased life expectancy for the child was a certain number of years. |

"Oh no, my palm is flashing red! Off to Carousel.
You are showing your age there "
Ha ha, it was actually six years before I was born (thanks IMDB) but surprisingly few people have gotten the reference. |

"Eh?? You mean putting down pensioners to harvest their organs??
Exactly. Or any other group that were considered by the legislators to be less important.
Obviously I'm not advocating it."
I'm gonna say bad plan. I like my nan and grandad. You can have their insides when they shuffle off the mortal coil naturally x |
